How do I return DVD's that do not work to Circuit City?Help!!
Today I thought I had to be at my job. The supervisor says I'm off and sends me home. Which means I have to take the bus home from Travis AFB,CA. I had to transfer to anthoer bus at Fairfield CA's mall which is home to Circuit City,Best Buy, Suncoast and Sam Goody and Fairfield's only movie theater!!
I get off the bus and walk over to Circuit City since I had about 45 minutes to kill. Where there I pick up "Boxing Helena" on DVD and "Frank and Jesse" starring Bill Paxton and Rob Lowe. I get on the bus to get back to Vacavile and home( I had to call my ride and let them know what happened!!)
I get home and place "Boxing Helena" in my DVD player. So far, so good. Then I put in the "Frank and Jesse" DVD. I get a message saying that "This disc may be dirty or damged. Consult the owner's manual for cleaning instructions".. I also got another message that said the following: "The player is having trouble reading this disc. The disc may contain bad data. "
Can anyone help me!? What should I do about this bad DVD of "Frank and Jesse". I also paid in cash for this DVD, if that information helps!!This has very rarely happened with my DVD purchases so I guess I can say this seems to be a fluke of nature with me!!
Thanks for the help everyone!!

Have you tried to return/exchange it yet? I've no experience with trying to do a return at CC, as I wont shop there. But it seems to me that any (B&M) store where you buy a DVD that wont play shouldn't give you any grief.
FWIW: I've only had to do one exchange at Best Buy (iffy copy of "Cast Away"), and there were no questions past the obligatory "what's wrong with it". No headaches, no hassles.
That you paid cash should make no difference. Having the receipt will.

I was with my friend when she returned a non-working copy of Gladiator to Circuit City. The clerk didn't ask any questions (except to ask us to get a new copy of the movie) and did the exchange within moments. It was surprisingly easy. I suppose it depends on the store and the people working there.

Take your copy back to CC. It is their policy (along with most other B/M's) to exchange it for another copy of the same title. They have signs posted in the store (and at the front counter) that spell out the policy.
The key here is that you can only exchange it for another copy of Frank and Jesse. No refund (since it's open) and no exchanging it for some other movie.
If they have no more in stock, then make sure they agree to call you once it comes back in and hold the copy for you.
And as always, if the pimple-faced kid at the front gives you flack, ask for the manager
It should be an easy process though.
Good luck.

As everyone else says, return it as a defective and you should get a replacement right away. If not, talk to a manager. DVDs cause they are opened doesn't mean a deffect can't be returned. If there are scratches on the bottom, that is a different story. I havent' really heard of defects though, not to say i don't have glitches in my dvds.
