I called a CSR but didn't get the clearest answer- imagine that.
Anyhow I did a Vividence test and used the $15 coupon. They called it a gift certificate.
I have recently received one of those $5 off $30 coupons.
If I cancel the first order does the $15 credit stay in my account as credit and then can I apply the promotional gift certificate?
The CSR said no because they are both promotional. That did not make sense because the Vividence was a gift certificate and even if it was promotional it would be turned into store credit upon cancellation of the order.
Someone please help me out. Thanks

The CSR was correct, and it does make sense. The $15 gift certificate from Vividence is what is called a Promotional GC. When you get a GC online from a company for doing a survey, buying a product, etc... it's pretty much always going to be a Promotional GC nowadays.
Promotional GC's are not stackable in any way. That supposedly keeps people from doing 10 surveys and getting 10 $15 GC's which they can use at once for $150 credit.
If your grandma, aunt susie, mother and next door neighbor each give you an Amazon GC they bought, you can stack all those together and use at once, as they are non-promotional GC's.
Back in the day, you could cancel an order and as it 'sat' in your account it would become the same as a regular GC which you could stack coupons and other promo GC's on top of. Now however, you can't. They fixed the system so that it keeps better track of GC's, and now once a promo GC, always a promo GC.

All my Vividence GCs have NOT been promotional GCs, but stackable ones.
(Well, there was one instance where I got it promotional, but I complained and they fixed it - that was a year ago.)
