Does anyone know from experience how cancellation of some or all of the yet-to-be-shipped items in an order with Amazon that was made with promotional discount (i.e., coupon and/or free-shipping) affects the discount for those items that have already been shipped and billed?

Yes! If you cancel part of an order with a promo, if the remaining amount doesn't add up to the required purchase amount for the promo, you lose that discount. If you cancel the ENTIRE order and reorder up to the amount of the promo, they'll give the discount to you. (Like if your promo was $10.00 off $50, your order came to $55.00 and you cancelled a $20 item, you'd lose your discount for that order).
