I went to the site and tried other links.
It always shown, "SORRY, YOU ARE FORBIDDEN."
Is CDnow had been hacked?

Nope, they changed their login method. It used to be first name-last name but now you're forced to choose an unique single username. Don't try your bookmark but use http://www.cdnow.com and go to account and you'll see.

Have you got a static IP address? It almost sounds as if your address has been banned...

Try this link just to make sure:
http://anon.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.cdnow.com/

this works... but tried other ways, still could not access.
static IP add? not sure, I'm using a cable modem. I read that switching off the modem and rebooting, changes the IP add.

Why would CDNow ban someone's IP. As if they would have a data base of IP's they ban.

I asked my friends to check the site.
They too could not access. The same, ...'you are forbidden'

Are your friends on the same ISP as you? If going through the anonymizer worked, CDNow is definitely up to something.

Another thing to try: Block cookies in your browser. When you went through the anonymizer two things happened: Your IP address was anonymized and cookies were automatically blocked...

The best thing to do would be to email CDNow: Try [email protected] with CC's to [email protected] and [email protected]

Do you have a common name? I'm wondering how they dealt with all of those John Smith's or Mary Jones out there. Perhaps someone else "switched" their "John Smith" name to an email address before you did, and they had some sort of hickup where now "John Smith" is now disabled for logging in for anyone but the one that signed up initially. My guess is if they had multiple John Smith's before, they combined it with something else like a cookie value or IP address to make it unique. Sounds like a "bug" in their transition to email addresses for userid. Probably something to call support about.

no, but the problem is probably that i somehow wound up with two logins using the same fn & ln but with diff passwords. i checked both accounts(be deleting my cookie) but neither on shows any recent orders. i emailed cdnow about this so lets just X or fingers shall we
