I see that they have NO stars in the ratings. Anyone order from them? Comments?

Thanks

Have placed two orders (6 DVD's each order) within the past month, and no problems. I've received prompt emails confirming the order, confirming shipping. Both orders received within a reasonable time (they do use the slow media mail for the free shipping). One note: I only order items that are showing in stock, since most of the problems I've seen mentioned here concern pre-orders and back-ordered items.

I ordered about 26 DVDs so far and have been happy with the service. The only problems have been getting preorders consistently on time.

I have never ordered from them, but I have heard many people say that they have been charged almost as much as double on their credit cards. Though they claim this is easy to fix, I don't want to deal with an etailer who tries to get over on you...

From my own experience they have done alright with the billing. I have not been overcharged, they do not bill until they ship the DVD, and any coupons that I used were properly credited and the discounted price charged. I have had zero problems out of 11 shipped orders.

They actually did overcharge my account (8 bucks) but one email was enough to correct. Package came for 3,5 weeks (international) but when arrived condition was perfect. Just placed an order recently for the MP's Flying Circus boxset, so all my fingers are crossed

excellent place

My first experience with DDDvd was when they honored the misprice on the Oliver Stone box set, so that was a good start. Since then, I've placed 3 orders for multiple DVDs, and all details of the transactions have been excellent. They even got me a copy of the new Anchor Bay release of Diva at least a week early, which was delightful to watch last weekend. The one time that I called customer service, I got to a person quickly without having to go through a bunch of phone prompts. Two thumbs up from me for these folks. The free shipping makes it great because you're not worrying about combining items to maximize efficiency of shipping costs.

I've had a few successful tranactions w/ DDD, but the biggest order I've placed w/ them, for "The X-Files Season 3", still hasn't come through. I was charged about a month ago, and they say it shipped right around then. But, I haven't gotten it yet.

To be fair, I have moved, and they sent it to my old address. So between the USPS re-direct system and DDD's slow-crawling shipping method, I suppose it's possible that it's still on the way here. But it's been a month, and I'm starting to get nervous.

Anyone know what to do in these cases?

Monday I received a credit card bill with a charge from them. Today I received the dvd. They billed me two days before they shipped the dvd. Not good in my opinion.

In my case they canceled an order I had placed and then shipped it and charged me nonetheless. I've sent them five e-mails asking them to send a return label, but apparently they aren't reading them because they keep telling me that "the package has shipped."

Infuriating customer service. My first order went through smoothly, but after this fiasco I'm staying away.

I have had many good, but slow experiences with them...until my last order.

My last order I was sent a DVD that had obviously been opened and re-shrink-wrapped. The security sticker was torn all the way down the center and had dirt and worn blue thread stuck to the underside of it. All of this had been shrink-wrapped over with the same plastic you would wrap a sandwich in. I didn't even open the shrink-wrap before I noticed this.

That originally didn't bother me that much, because after a call to customer service, they sent me a return label. I should be happy, right? Well, it took a week to get my label, two weeks till they said they received it, and almost two weeks past that to receive my replacement DVD. I guess they felt the need to wait to receive my DVD before shipping my replacement (and media rate to boot!). Now keep in mind that it had already taken over a week to receive it the first time.

I haven't ordered from them since, but I probably will again. They do have good prices, they are just so friggen' slow!

Kinda curious was the charge done on a Friday? It could be maybe they attempt to charge on Friday, but could not ship till Monday. I believe they are closed on weekends, but never the less seems odd.

I've placed two orders from them. The first one arrived fine. The other one shipped Media Mail though I paid for Priority Mail. I emailed them asking if the shipping charge could be reimbursed, they said they would refund me the appropriate charge. Today, I got an email saying they cancelled my order because they could not authorize my card. Somehow instead of reimbursing the $3.95, they placed a second order for the DVD I already received. I think I'll call them tomorrow.

UGH. My most recent experience with DDD:

5/25/01: I place pre-orders for "Traffic" and "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"

5/28/01: I received notification that Traffic shipped. Great! Right on time. I received notification from my bank that I was billed.

5/31/01: I decide to cancel the CTHD pre-order because I can walk into BB the day it releases and get it cheaper. I send an email to DDD asking them to cancel the pre-order.

6/1/01: DDD responds, saying that they are sorry, but it's too late to cancel CTHD because they had already received the shipment and my copy had shipped out the day before. Hey, no problem there, I guess! I'll get it before it's even on the street.

6/3/01: Received notification from bank that CTHD was billed. Great! Everything's in order and I'm happy.

6/7/01: Still have not received Traffic which was apparently sent a week and a half ago now and has already been on the street for days.

6/8/01: Received generic email from DDD saying that my pre-order for CTHD (the one that apparently had shipped 9 days ago and I was already billed for) is officially on backorder. HUH..?!?

So, basically, I placed an order two weeks ago, have nothing in my hands, and have already paid for everything - including CTHD, which is in some kind of order limbo.

Perfect timing too, of course, because I had family/friends coming over to watch both movies on Wed - and I had neither to show.

Well, I've learned my lesson regarding DDD and pre-orders. Next time, screw the $1-$2 savings - I'll just buy it on the street.

DDD is highway robbery waiting to happen. When dealing with them, it's not a matter of IF you'll be unhappy and pissed at their lack of customer service, or shipping problems, but WHEN.

After experiencing my own nightmare with that company, I vowed to never visit their site again.

I've never had any problems with their customer service

If you want pre-orders on or before street date, then you might want to consider another e-tailer or just go to a B&M, as DDD is inconsistent in that regard

And if you want free shipping, the trade-off is you wait longer for delivery

I ordered DO THE RIGHT THING: CC from DDD.COM and received my order in 4 days. Perfect condition, excellent price. I will be ordering from them again, but not any preorders.

Overall, good service, recommended.

I've placed three or four orders though them... Including the AbFab box set misprice they honored... And have never had a problem... Until the order I placed last month for Playtime:CC and a couple of the July Criterions.

Well, as of this week I have yet to receive Playtime, so I e-mailed them (Twice). Their replies to my e-mails have come within two hours. (The first time they told me to wait to the end of the week just in case [which is true because the 'free' rate they use is the media rate which can be very slow]; the second reply, an apology and a new order number for a replacement.)

End result they will be shipping out another copy. And to their credit they've acknowleged that there will be a delay in getting a replacement since Criterion is waiting for a second pressing of the disc because of a defect.

They're good, not the greatest but I will continue to use them from time to time when the deal is good.

Their prices are good, esp. when they throw a 10% off coupon. Their shipping time seems to be getting better too.
The only problem I've had with them is duplicate shipments.
My 1st order from them was for Charlie's Angels and Space Cowboys. When I saw MovieSource.com had them for sale at 17.99 each with free shipping I emaile Deepdiscountdvd for a price match. They agreed but rather than credit me for the difference in price, they said they had to cancel my original order and place a new one. All well and good except they never cancelled the original order so I got a 2nd copy of Charlie's Angels. When I emailed them for a postage paid return label, they said they didn't have them but they would credit me for the return shipping. At this time I was worried about getting a 2nd copy of Space Cowboys and emailed them to check it out. The replied - No Problem. Yet, sure enough, I got a 2nd copy of that too. They credited me for the returned movies within a week but it took about a month to get them to give the shipping credit.

Then I get an email from them saying my copy of Legend of Drunken Master was on back order. I emailed them to let them know they already sent me my copy and to make sure they don't send another. They replied - No Problem. Yet sure enough a couple of weeks later I get a 2nd copy and have to send it back

Still waiting on my order from Sunday May 27. It shipped on Tuesday the 29th. If I still don't have after today's mail comes, they get the thumbs down.

If you selected the free shipping, it DOES say 5-10 business days, so as long as they shipped promptly and charged you the correct amount, why would THEY get a "thumbs down"???? Complain to the post office!

Just a follow up...

I just received an email from DeepDiscountDVD.com apologizing for my inconvenience on my last order. That alone deserves a in my book, especially when I posted that I would probably buy from them again.
