This website....

http://www.playit.itgo.com/1homepage.htm

this is an interesting website that has some very cheap movies with free shipping!!

But!

Before I order from them, are they reliable and has anybody had any good/bad experiences with them?

Ras.

Hm... 12.99 per movie with free shipping. This is indeed a good deal. Should post it in the dvd bargains forum. There has to be some catch though...

Um, two comments...

Their email contact is a hotmail address. This bothers me a lot.

And secondly... they state their DVDs are "All Region". They also say they are manufactured in Asia. Does this concern anyone else?

They list the Indiana series as being available which is a red flag to me.

Also all the Star Wars DVDs (Uh, no), and Snow White, which I don't believe has ever been available on DVD.

It's a bootleg site.

Get the $$ out of your eyes and stop to think reasonably for a moment. They have SW and Indy DVD's. It's a bootleg site.

Any site with those DVD's is a bootleg site. Is it reliable? Who knows. Do you trust an overseas site with a hotmail address? Do you trust any site that uses free hosting instead of getting their own domain? Do you trust any site that rips off Amazon's graphics? Do you trust someone ripping off the studios to not rip you off?

If you can answer Yes to all of the above, have a nice shopping experience and I hope you get your DVD's. If you answer No to one or more of those questions, don't shop there.

Really? Just out of curosity, how can you tell? I'd like to improve my future knowledge of "less than trustworthy" sites.

How do you tell where the graphics came from?

Bootleggs, me thinks. Wow, the Dvd transfer was taken from a Laserdisc. Now, if they get to 5.99 like Diamond I might be interested but 12.99!!!!

They claim to have been operating since 1999, yet nobody appears to have heard of them or used them before.....

Just by recognizing the graphics. Like if you saw a can of Pepsi that stole the Coke graphics, you'd recognize it as not belonging there.

I did a search here, but couldn't find it. Playit has been discussed here before. They're a bootleg site, and it's against DVDTalk rules to discuss where to purchase bootleg DVD's. Usually about twice a month someone finds this site or another one and posts here asking about it or presenting it as a deal.
