Question about Amazon GCs?

I have a $10 GC from Amazon and was wondering something about it. It says it expires June 16, 2001 and my question is would I be able to use it to preorder a DVD that came out after June 16(like Dogma SE on the 26).
What I mean is if I place the preorder now, would the GC still work for when they charge my card somewhere close to the release of Dogma SE or will it only work for preorders that ship before the expiration date?

It works for preorder too as long as you place your order before the GC expires. However, if you cancel the order after the GC expires, you lose it.
