I'm pretty sure I did hear that from one of the announcers on a recent PPV

Might have read it from a summary of said PPV.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Everyone makes Kurt Angle look so damn short. Seeing him stand face to face with Lesnar makes me appreciate how amazing of an amateur wrestler Kurt was. He smoked Lesnar back in the day, who probably had 80 pounds on him and was a NCAA Div 1 Nation Champion.

Goodness know i'm not making fun of him, but has anyone noticed when Kurt Angle stands, it's always with his knees bent? I wonder if he has some kind of neck/back injury that prevents him from standing straight?

Same as Hogan used to walk in the late 90's, early 2000's before he had hip, back and knee surgeries. It's years of physical abuse on the body. Kurt was even worse cause he continued to perform in bad physical condition.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

So big w/e for my daughter and I next week. As a grad gift I am taking her on a little trip.

We are heading to an NXT show in Asbury Park NJ on Friday then staying over in NY to attend NXT Takeover on Sat and then Summerslam on Sun. Also got her a surprise she doesn't know about - meet & greet with one of her favorite wrestlers - Seth Rollins.

Going to be a long/busy w/e but should he hella fun.

COLT CABANA SUES CM PUNK
By Mike Johnson on 2018-08-09 15:45:00
The Chicago Sun-Times reported this afternoon that Ring of Honor Star Scott "Colt Cabana" Colton has filed the lawsuit against former WWE Champion Phil "CM Punk" Brooks in Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois over alleged unpaid legal fees and breach of contract stemming from the lawsuit that WWE physician Doctor Chris Amann filed against the two in regard to Punk's appearance on Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast.

Cabana is alleging that Punk told him his legal bills would be covered by Punk via text but when Cabana was left legal bills totaling $513,736, Punk asked Cabana to pay half the bill, $256,868. Cabana alleged that Punk told him he was on his own.

According to the article, the lawsuit alleges that " Brooks acted with fraud, malice and oppression toward Colton, with the deliberate intention of causing Colton harm."

Cabana is asking for $1 Million in punitive and exemplary damages and $200,000 in general damages.

While not mentioned in the article, the two were being represented by the same attorneys in the Amann lawsuit before Cabana hired his own representation. It appears Cabana is suing over Punk not covering the legal costs of Cabana's personal representation in that lawsuit.

What is amazing is that after the long legal process against Amann, now the process will begin anew for Punk and Cabana, who at one point were the best of friends.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

It sucks that money can bury a friendship but I also had the feeling that Punk blames Colt Cabana for being sued by Amall in the first place. Punk seems like the kind of guy that would drop friends the moment he feels "disrespected" or "used".

I've heard about this too. Punk essentially cut off everyone involved with WWE from his circle of friend, including Jericho, as he thought he was being "used" by them to get a story for their podcasts. It's pretty well known that Punk is hard to deal with and considered an asshole by many. It's sad that him and Cabana are in this situation right now.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Sign up for email lists for WWE, the venue, ticketmaster, etc.

One or more of them will send out presale passwords.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I always liked him mostly because of Bret Hart and his involvement in the Hart Foundation (both the tag team and the later faction with Owen, Pillman, and Bulldog). Seems like so many of the classic wrestlers I liked are dead and not all are even that old really. RIP.

Who's idea was that too put Neidhart,Bret Hart and Jimmy Hart together? It was great chemistry.

You don't see magic like the above team in today's wrestling.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Loved the Hart Foundation when I was a kid. Since they are clearly a HoF worthy tag team, I'm now irritated that they hadn't put them in yet.

Well if Prichard is to be believed Stu was always pushing for Neidhart and since he had a history in Stampede it would make sense to team him with Bret. As far a s Jimmy goes the name is just a natural fit if nothing else.

I remember hating the Hart Foundation. They were feuding with the Bulldogs which were my favorite team (before discovering the NWA)

According to Wikipedia it was Bret's idea when they couldn't come up with a gimmick he liked. And true to WWE form, they didn't do it until he almost quit.

Re: The 2018 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I still hate it how they hardly ever acknowledge Jim when talking about Nattie on TV. They always mention her uncle, but would it kill them to drop her dad's name too? It's not like he was some jobber, but you wouldn't know that from WWE TV.

Sad news indeed. Bret Hart is the only member of the 1997 Hart Foundation that is still alive.
