Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 6

Honestly, this week is one of the most underwhelming weeks I can remember seeing. What's the marquee Sunday game? Packers & Vikings? I'll pass.

The TNF games this season aren't half bad.
Surprisingly they have been better than the MNF games.

ESPN must not be happy if the marquee games are on Thursday but that will change next week when the Chiefs hammer and destroy the Raiders (The game that puts the nail in the coffin for the Raiders in 2017) and we will be complaining about how TNF sucks again.

How many more seasons do the Raiders have in Oakland? Its a divisional rival game, I'll be excited for next week as the Raiders-Chiefs games are always good.

When looking at the MNF and TNF Football schedules it seems clear they took the TNF criticism from previous season seriously and made sure most TNF games would at least be good on paper.

And even if they didn't move games to the other network, having all 4 teams from one division off only removes TWO games from one network any given week. When there are 6 teams off, one of the networks is already guaranteed to lose two games, and on 4 team bye weeks it's a 50/50 shot that both games are on the same network.

But if the league did migrate to the recommended format, there would be no need to move games around between networks. For example, if the NFC West were off this week, there'd be 16 AFC and 12 NFC teams playing. With more AFC teams, it makes sense to do that on a CBS doubleheader weekend, with 8 potential road CBS teams and 6 potential road FOX teams, not counting TNF, SNF and MNF. If you need a 9/5 or 10/4 split, schedule the interconference games to favor more AFC/CBS road teams at NFC/FOX home teams.

Really - it'd be easy to accommodate the networks.

And if teams coming off a bye played each other, then there'd be no advantage or disadvantage to them or their opponents.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 6

The Raiders might stay in Oakland until 2019 but that is not a lock.

Only in Oakland could you get away with that. Most other fanbases would have abandoned them if their team was moving,

I assume Raiders @ Dolphins on SNF in Nov will be flexed out since both teams are terrible right now.

The rest of the TNF schedule is not that impressive. Maybe Saints @ Falcons might be good if the Saints are still in it.

Not only is that game probably a good one, there are others that fit what I posted before - looked good on paper. More than a few people thought the Giants, Cardinals, and Dolphins would be better.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 6

The Stripes are on their bye this week. Sure, I still have lots of teams to root against, and there's always my pair of fantasy teams, but it doesn't feel right to not have *my* team in action this weekend.

Guess this is what it feels like to be a Browns fan.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 6

Ruh Roh - Rodgers driven down on his throwing shoulder. Getting looked at in the tent. Probably should have been a late hit penalty.

edit: carted to the locker room.

Of course I have GB -3.

14-7 with the Jets still leading after the pass interference called. Jets just intercepted after Brady threw the deep ball.

Broken collarbone has been confirmed. If he has surgery, his season is done.
