Hoping the Yankees can sneak one out. I really wish these WC play ins were 3 games series.

I love the one and done! And I guess the thought of a best-of-3 has been discussed before, where it would extend things out too long. If they do it, they should play a double header, followed by an afternoon game the next day. That way the WC team uses their best pitchers and wears out their bullpen. That would add to the advantage of the team with the best record.

I'm pulling for the Diamondbacks and Twins in the WC games, so I voted for them in the poll.

I have a feeling that the Rockies are going to upset the D-Backs

Yankees have dominated the Twins all season. They've played great all year at home. They're on a roll winning 20 games in September. Plus we have Severino on the mound and he's been nothing short of dominant in the second half.

But yeah, it's a one game playoff and baseball is a fickle bitch. It's going to be a nerve wracking coin flip.

Swap out the Cubs for the Astros ... and it looks good to me

The only workable idea I've heard about a 3-game series for the Wild Card is have a doubleheader the first day, and then have a tiebreaker the next day if needed. You couldn't bullpen your way through a win with that schedule, forcing the Wild Card teams to use their pitching depth.

The benefit of that schedule is that it taxes the Wild Card winner's pitching staff and gives them a true disadvantage in the next round.

I really don't see any of these Wild Card teams winning the World Series. People are jumping on Arizona as a strong contender but Colorado has played them fairly even the entire season. Greinke has never really been a big game pitcher, so it's no sure thing they win.

I agree the Dbacks are no sure thing to survive the WC, but the Dodgers are not excited about the thought of facing them in the next round.

I don't like the double header idea. Too many moving parts in a DH and they're almost always split.

The one game playoff is a coin flip and the better team may not always win but every playoff team except one will have to play a "win or go home" game eventually. For the WC teams, that game comes early. Such is life.

I don't think that they are excited by facing either the D-Backs or Rockies. The one good thing (As a Dodgers fan) about facing the D-Backs, is we would only have to face Grienke once in a 5 game series.

They've played the Rockies a LOT better recently than they have played the D-Backs. I know who I'll be rooting for on Wednesday.

But then the Dodgers could see Robbie Ray twice and he was 3-0 against them in the regular season.

I still like the 1 game WC format ... the WC team should be at a disadvantage .. them playing more days pushes the playoffs to start even later than they do now.

That was the main complaint in the old WC format, that it did not make winning the division matter .. now it does

As a Dodgers fan, i'm definitely worried about Goldschmidt or JD Martinez destroying our pitching.

Initially I didn't like the Wild Card change, but seeing the results after it was implemented led me to be in favor of it.

Watching the Texas Rangers collapse during the last week in 2012 and forcing them into the Wild Card spot (and eventually losing) was great. The Rangers thought they had the division won and let the A's sneak up on them.

As a Tigers fan, I hate to say it, but go Twins! I hate the Yankees, and look forward to the bellyaching about the WC format when they lose.

While I'm rooting for the Rockies, I'll be psyched for you if the DBacks win.

Baseball is all about momentum, and I actually think the winner of that Wildcard game can ride that throught he playoffs (like The Royals did a few years back before losing to the Giants in the WS. It's so hard to predict who will win the WS because Playoff Baseball is so different then the 162 games schedule (Unlike the NBA where the truly great teams usually make the Finals). Playoff Baseball is all about one hot starting pitcher that can pitch 2 games per series, timely hitting and a great bullpen. Where teams with depth have the advantage in a 162 games season. That is why those 90's Braves Teams with that Stud Pitching Staff only won 1 WS.
