I bet they do a moderate adjustment to the logo/jersey within the next 5 years.

One thing I'm sure of : those white gloves are gone in 3-4 years. They're begging for attention and will certainly garner a disproportional number of holding penalties.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Home Openers are being announced - rest of the teams schedules will be announced on Thursday.

Penguins vs St. Louis on Wednesday, October 4.
Sabres vs Montreal on Thursday, October 5.
Blackhawks vs Pittsburgh on Thursday, October 5.
Islanders vs Buffalo on Saturday, October 7.

The first three games for Vegas Golden Knights - at Stars on Friday, October 6 - at Coyotes on Saturday, October 10 - vs Coyotes on Tuesday, October 10.
The Golden Knights games at Stars and at Coyotes will be the Stars and Coyotes home openers while the second Coyotes game will be the home opener for the Golden Knights.)

Sigh - the two teams I like (Blackhawks-Penguins) besides the Sabres and I won't be home to watch the first of their two meetings next season because as a Sabres season ticket holder, I'll be at their home opener that night vs the Canadiens. (Of course I could always sell the tickets as thats one of the few games I can sell and make some money. Nahh!)

I like the home jersey a lot. The gray is perfect and no other team is using that color.

I don't like the white gloves either.

Might have been nice for him to waive his no-movement clause so Chicago could have protected another player.

I don't think they asked him because he's valuable to the Hawks on LTIR. If they have a deal worked out with Vegas taking. Marcus Kruger that gives the Hawks $6-7 million dollars off the cap between Hossa going on LTIR and losing Kruger.

Not sure that would have mattered .. I think it was always TVR and Kruger (trade) going to Vegas ... there were reports 2 weeks ago showing him getting ready for the season ... so this might have been decided pretty recently

One of the radio guys here has a pretty good Hawks source and his source told him last week, and his source confirmed today that it was Hossa, that one of the core was leaving the Hawks and it wasn't a d-man or Toews.

I was hoping it was Seabrook ... Hossa, I did not want to see leave, especially like this. He is not a problem on this team and still fun as hell to watch him backcheck

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

New Blues sweater just released:

It's Blue. It's got the Bluenote on the front. It's got yellow + white stripes. Oh, look, the numbers are white with yellow trim (instead of vice-versa). But otherwise... it's pretty much the same.

The only big change is one you can't see... the lining inside the collar now has heraldry based on the city flag rather than Reebok's "EST. 1967" text.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Meanwhile, Blues' LW David Perron has been selected by the Knights.

Linky: http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2017/06/21/...olden-knights/ (27 minutes ago as I post this)

$3.75M cap relief, and was 1 year from becoming a UFA anyway. I wish him well in the desert for the one season he'll play there.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Oops, they should NOT be leaking draft picks yet. I and many others paid good money to see the announcement in person. The NHL was pretty strict about the secrecy. Hope no other names leak (except maybe Fleury, who we all figure is a done deal already).

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Well I'm at the event now. Stopped by the Armory and bought my Home Authentic Vegas Golden Knights jersey. You can buy a blank one for $195 and add a name and number in August. Will get it in September.
The pre-show is awful but it's still an exciting environment. Let's get this thing started.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

How are they actually announcing the Knights picks? All at once or throughout the show?

Mixing them in between the awards, Announced in order from worst to best Regular Season record. We are waiting to the first three after the current commercial break...

Good luck!

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

No surprise Vegas picked Marchessault from Florida.

Brent Burns with the Norris! Thought with the dump the team took at the end of the regular season that Karlsson would end up winning it instead, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

Torts with the Jack Adams award. Not really a surprise there, though I suppose Babcock was also deserving.

Fleury wasn't enough that they needed to throw in a draft pick?
