Sticking with Denver-Seattle

Hopefully the games live up to the rest of the playoffs which have, for the most part, been especially good this year.

Re: 2013 NFL Playoffs Thread - Conference Championships -- 01/19/2014

I can't remember a Conference Championship Weekend where both games had 2 of the best teams in the conference still playing. The Pats and Broncos were #1 & #2 seeds, and the 49ers would have been a higher seed if they weren't in the same division as the Seahawks.

I picked Denver-Seattle, but I'm trying to remember the last time we had a #1 seed vs #1 seed in the Super Bowl. It's been a while, and I think the last one was DAL-BUF.

Pats vs Seahawks would be a nightmare

Niners and Seahawks Ds are both good but Niners have more playmakers on offense and Wilson is struggling plus they kick a lot of FGs though SF does that a lot too.

Seahawks are also struggling in pass protection and Wilson only had 103 passing yards.

Lynch had his first 100 yard game since week 10 vs the Saints.

Could Seattle have won in Green Bay and Carolina back to back?

I don't know the answer to that question. Fortunately they didn't have to.

regardless of who wins, Fox will have their QB of the present vs. QB of the future storyline. I think Fox would want SF vs. Denver/NE

Fox really wants the Pats since it will mean more East Coast viewers.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Manning brings tons of viewers nationally. But it really doesn't matter - it's the SB. It's always funny hearing people say the network suits want this or that. It's not the WS. It's ratings proof.

What they want most of all is bad weather in most of the country to sock people (Nielsen viewers) in their own homes and some (not crippling) snow in NJ.

Not so sure about that, I'd venture a guess more people would tune in to see peyton going for another super bowl. He is a huge draw all over the country, brady can't even get a high 5 from his own team. Most regions can't stand the pats.

Even better if it gives them someone to root against.

But I agree that the SB is ratings proof, and this year the matchup should be fantastic no matter what (unless we have some horrific QB injuries this week or something).

This is easy: I'm rooting for Denver/Seattle, so get ready for a New England/San Fran. Super Bowl.
