Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs, Divisional Series Edition
Predictions:
Yankees in 4 -- Miggy is a Yankee killer but if the Yankees can dance around him this series they should be able to shut their offense down.
Rangers in 5 -- I think the Rangers are a much better team but the Rays have the mojo going right now. I just don't think it'll be enough.
Phillies in 5 -- Same reason as above. The Cards are hot and I can see them getting to the Phillies but in the end the Phils are just too good.
Brewers in 4 -- Brew Crew is just too good at home. I think they take the first two games at home pushing the Diamondbacks up against the wall. Then again the Diamondbacks could be last years Giants.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs, Divisional Series Edition
I think outside of the Yankees and Phillies being the obvious favorites, anything can happen (as has been proven in recent years). Honestly I'll just be happy if the Brew Crew can make it to the NLCS (and the Yankees lose, of course
).
Kennedy pitched 7 scoreless innings in his only outing against Milwaukee. Gallardo gave up a total of 4 runs (2 earned) in 13 innings against Arizona.

I'm not so sure Hudson is going to be the Dbacks #2 pitcher. While it's certainly likely, he's pitched horribly the past month and Saunders is pitching better and has playoff experience.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs, Divisional Series Edition
I'm still mulling over my picks, because I don't think a single team in the field is absolutely dominant. I think the Phillies have the best chance to win it, but it's far from a lock in my mind. The team ran an 8-game skid and I'm not convinced that they're out of it yet, considering they ran into and over the not-so-challenging Braves at their absolute worst.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs, Divisional Series Edition
The above pitching matchups are off, btw. It looks like the Cardinals are sending out Carpenter on short rest on Sunday, and then Garcia in Game 3 on Tuesday.
Carpenter has never before pitched on short rest in his career.
(and why the hell did LaRussa have him go 9 innings in a blowout on Wednesday? Or is the answer to that "because LaRussa"?)

Heard the news about Carpenter going in Game 2. He must have been concerned with who was pitching in the most hostile environment known to man.
Seriously, I hope it works out, but I have doubts. What this does--and LaRussa would never say this and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere--is set things up for Carpenter to be available for a Game 5 should the Cards (or the Phillies
) extend the series that far.

I'm not watching the game right now, so perhaps they mentioned it--Heard they'll also be putting a bronze statue of the father/son up sometime next year.
