I guess the Bucs are probably not ending the season with a 20-9 run, eh (not factoring in any cancellations)

Yeah, but are the Yankees going too dog it like thay did last September when they were in no hurry to wrap on a divisional title. Girardi is bitching up a storm that they don't have any off days but with expanded rosters ,he can rest everyone and put the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees out on the field.

I guess it's relieving that the Tigers are having their "end of the season" collapse about 3 weeks earlier than past years.

MLB Network guys trying to figure out what the Pirates need to go to finish .500

"If they win tonight they need to 8 games over .500 the rest of the way"
"So with 28 games they need to go 22-6...."
"no that's not right they need to go 20-8"
"You're right, kids this is why you should stick with math"

- Cut to highlights -

"Oh wait they need to 18-10"

If the Cubs don't add on, it's going to be tough to win the game 1-0 with Marmol closing.

I think this will be Lincecum's last inning with a hit from Wells being the capper.

Well he walked instead; pretty dumb to leave Lincecum in there but whatever.

And wouldn't you know it, Lincecum serves up a homer after an error by Cabrera. A bit of schadenfreude I admit, but that sequence was too predictable.

Berkman and Carpenter Cleared.
Carpenter was pulled off but Now they can trade Berkman to anyone I guess.

btw Soto homered now Lincecum is down 2-0. do they even score 1 run in games he pitches?

Re: MLB Monday, August 29, 2011

whoa, 6-0 that was fast.
a homer then an error led to a three run homer. Lincecum pulled then another homer.
They had a closeup of Lincecum's face,he looked in shock. I think he cant believe they never score runs.

Dbacks winning big and the Giants are losing big. Booya.

Just heard the Dbacks starters have given up 5 runs in the past 7 games. That's how you win a division.

Funny, The Dbacks and Tigers both have 5 game leads, but the Dbacks lead seems/feels a whole lot bigger.

Re: MLB Monday, August 29, 2011

If the Dbacks keep winning and the Giants continue to struggle, this race, for all intents and purposes, could be over by Sunday. Giants had a 4 1/2 game lead less than a month ago. Yikes.

Mentioned it in the previous thread, but I agree with you there.

It's only 1 game into the series, but the Giants really had to wipe the floor with the Cubs. They need to win these next 2 games, to at least be in an alright spot going to the next series with the D-Backs.

Injuries aside, I'm currently frustrated with both the decisions of Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy.

Yahoo had a rumor posted that the Rangers might go after Berkman w/Nelson Cruz out. And they also had to go and point out the irony that Berkman signed w/the Cardinals over the Rangers because he liked their playoff chances better.

Re: MLB Monday, August 29, 2011

The NL West race is over. The D'backs are playing well and the Giants just aren't. So Arizona keeps gaining momentum and the Giants start to feel the season slip away and start to give in. The only way the Diamondbacks blow this lead is if they relocate to New York and call themselves the Mets.

With that said, it's probably in the D'backs best interest if the Giants manage to keep it close. Make the Diamondbacks stay hot through the end of the season. That's the only way they'll even have a chance against the Phillies. Just hope that the Phils either tire themselves out with all the games they have down the stretch or that Philly takes it a little too easy with two weeks left and limp into the playoffs. Otherwise the Phillies will roll right through to the NLCS.
