Re: MLB Friday, June 17, 2011

That Red Sox at Phils matchup in two weeks is shaping up to be epic. The Phils always get pounded by the Red Sox though.

Ah yes, here are the ugly details:

"The Phillies are 17-26 against the Red Sox, but they have been especially bad lately. They are just 6-18 against Boston since 2003."

Fuckers.

Doug Davis shuts down the Yanks

Mariners are starting Dustin Ackley after calling him up. He was the second overall pick after Strasburg, and after playing OF-1B at North Carolina was switched to 2B in the minors. Will be interesting to watch how he does.

I do believe this Sox-Dbacks game is putting a fine point on why Kenny Williams may need to be replaced. Hudson looks great.

Re: MLB Friday, June 17, 2011

Out of boredom, I decided to see what the Giants' record would be if they scored at least 4 runs per game. We all know they have a great pitching staff, so how many more wins would they have?

Chris Carpenter manages to pitch just well enough to lose again, he's now 1-7 on the season.

What a waste of a beautiful evening.

Carp's rapid decline is frustrating.

#5 didn't do the team any favors last night either.

Other than that mistake to Kinerko, he was nearly flawless. Dbacks fans thank you guys for making that trade.

I'm glad he stuck it to us. The 2B was icing for him I'm sure. Maybe this will show the Sox they should stop trading away all their top pitching prospects for possible short-term help.

Wasn't Jackson supposed to go somewhere else? I thought I read he was meant for another team but that team backed out after Williams completed the trade.

If he was, I never heard about it. I'd say the White Sox got the worst part of the deal. Granderson has been lighting it up in NY and Hudson is becoming a stud. Jackson is a serviceable pitcher, but he's definitely not got the potential of Hudson.

Re: MLB Friday, June 17, 2011

Steven Drew just crushed a ball up the middle, hit John Danks in the head or shoulder and got a ground rule double out of it without the ball going past the infield. Danks is ok. the ball was hit so hard when it ricocheted off him, it bounced about 2 feet from the dugout and into the stands. Insane.

The rumor was we only acquired Jackson to send him to the Nats for Dunn. But that never sounded credible to me, as the Nats still thought they could re-sign Dunn (wish they had), so why let him go for Jackson and increaded the chance he signs somewhere else. It was just a bad trade.

Kenny has sucked lately. We didn't need Pierre after 2009 - we could have re-signed Podsednik. Pierre wasn't even a starter in LA but now all of a sudden he's good enough to start here? Dunn was a bad idea. Jackson was a bad idea. Teahen is a bust. Rios has been hot and cold. Peavy pitches every once in a while when he's not on the DL. This is all in the last two years. Our rotation could be Buehrle-Danks-Floyd-Hudson-Humber right now and we'd be just fine with a lot of money to spend elsewhere.

I'm not sure the Sox ever had a shot at signing Granderson but if they did they should have jumped. Even before this year Granderson was impressive, and he always brings it when he's home in Chicago.
