Re: NCAA Football 2011 Offseason Thread

On the heels of the news that the MWC is going to make TCU go to Boise State in 2011 instead of having it BSU at TCU as originally scheduled, Texas Tech has cancelled its 2011 matchup with TCU. Instead TTU has decided to play that powerhouse, Texas State.

and tate forcier is considering his options for where to transfer to

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6057873

Former Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier said Tuesday that Miami, Washington, Baylor, San Diego State, Middle Tennessee State and New Mexico are among the FBS schools he is considering transferring to.

Forcier said he is also considering lower-division schools such as Montana, South Carolina State and Florida A&M.

Why laugh at that? Lots of talented D-IA players have transferred to D-IAA because, unlike with a transfer to a D-IA school, they wouldn't have to sit out a year.

Also, he might have trouble immediately going to another D1 school since he flunked out of Michigan and is currently below the minimum NCAA eligibilty standard.

You have to be a real fuck-up to flunk out of major D-I program (save a few).

... or high all the time (allegedly )

Ironically, in early December he had an interview where he talked about how hard it would be to flunk out, and then he promptly did just that.

if I remember right.. forcier came out and said something similar to that in the press the day before he was ruled ineligible

something along the lines of, "its easy to stay eligible around here, you just have to show up in the classes and you'll pass"

and of course, the next day he was toast

edit.. yea, what daryl said

Re: NCAA Football 2011 Offseason Thread

man

all hell is breaking loose at iowa

first all the issues with drug dealers on the team
then a bunch of players collapse during workouts
then after testing to see what caused the problem, at least 5 have been discharged from the team

I thought that when I first read the headline, but it looks they're just being discharged from the hospital.

Re: NCAA Football 2011 Offseason Thread

Yeah, I'm curious to see where the Iowa mess goes, so far they are trying to make it as much of a non-story as possible, saying there will be no NCAA investigation. No love for Rich Rodriguez here, but if a couple of players claiming a few extra minutes of practice can create an investigation at Michigan, I would like to believe that 13 hospitalized players might create some concern with the Iowa program. And yes, no love for Ferentz either.

Bielema got an extension through 2015 at Wisconsin...hopefully a stipulation of the contract was that he has to let somebody else manage the games for him.

I wonder how much money changes hands on a day like today. Or maybe it all changed hands yesterday.

Re: NCAA Football 2011 Offseason Thread

money, refinanced mortgages with no payments, vehicles, jobs for family members, etc..

yep.. signing day is in the air!

that said.. currently espn has
1. florida state
2. auburn
3. alabama

but those will continue to change as the day goes on.

and on the discussion of how its bad to cheer for teams in your conference, because they better they do.. they harder recruiting is..
the SEC currently has at least* 9 teams in recruiting top 25 (*depending on which ranking you look at)

No Seward for FSU but Jerrnigan is coming to Tallahasse... Glad someone finally realized that FSU got better recruits when the "budget" was better

There's surreal. There's bizarre. And then there's the CBSSports signing day show that has Rich Rodriguez as a studio analyst as they talk to Brady Hoke.
