Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

Ok guys so there is a little modification with trades so Ill be updating soon. Today is the LAST day for new posters to access one team. Starting tomorrow at 12:01am you can start requesting to draft for another team if you already have one. Obviously those who have yet to choose a team can pick one. In fact they can pick two teams at that appointed time. We will get the draft going ths week.

I'll take the Cowboys if no one else claims them. I'm tempted to take Oakland just to pick Tebow at #8 (Al Davis loves SEC quarterbacks, right?).

If drafting for Oakland, you can follow this simple strategy:

Sort the list of Combine attendees by their time in the 40. Draft whoever is available at the top of the list. Repeat each round until you run out of draft picks. Cry.

I'll take Oakland as a second team. I bet I can draft a better group of players than the Crypt Keeper ...

I would recommend only doing the first round. Not only is there not that much time, but interest in the later parts of the draft wane from the times that I have done these in the past.

I would say 2-3 rounds. Of course, I have a vested interest in going beyond the first round since my Panthers do not have a first-round pick this year.

Yea some teams dont have first rounders (or second rounders). We can go for three. We can put some kind of time stipulations as far as time constraints esp in rounds 2 and 3.

Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

We did it a few years ago and got to round 3, I think. At some point we had to start making picks together for teams. I thought it worked well enough.

When picking for more than one team, there should probably be a certain number of teams in between to help stop a conflict of interest.

I'll take another team--the Chiefs or Bengals. This is dependant on what time we start on Thursday.

What about 12pm ET? That makes the Pacific time 9am. Or should it be in the afternoon?

BTW, I'll take Jacksonville as my second team.

Maybe we could start today. I've already decided #1, and I imagine the first 4 picks would go quickly.

If you have already decided, I'd say you might as well pick.

Re: 2010 DVDTalk NFL Draft (where you become the teams GM)

sleepyhead55 Pick go ahead and pick either KC or Cin as the draft will be starting soon.
wilcath Drexl beat you to the punch picking Jacksonville as his second team so go ahead and pick another one.

Ok guys the first pick might as well go in. They usually sign early anyway. If your pick is up and there are no more picks ahead of you go ahead and draft your player. I would like to get a large number of us together at the same time to make the draft go quickly. Eventually we will have time constraints on the picks and group selections if need be. Remember for those who havent selected a team or a second team there are still teams left to join in.

As of now I"ll say lets make the consensus time for everyone to be here is 10 pm tonight EST. Its late enough for those who work but not too late. Hope this time works for everyone. You can also PM me with a group of several players youd like to draft if your pick is approaching but you cant stay around. Ill draft them for you in the order that you list them. Dont post that list on the thread though as that may take away tacticle advantages. PM such messages to me please.

Okay, the Rams select Sam Bradford, QB (Oklahoma) at #1.

Detroit is on the clock until whenever.
