Why is there a Ticker Tape Parade For The Giants When They Play In Jersey?

First off ... I'm glad that they are getting one in NY, but ...

The last 2 times they won they had it in the Giants Stadium Parking Lot.

Is it because Bloomberg is in charge now instead of Guiliani ?

I do know that NY doesnt get a dime in revenues because the Jints play in Jersey.

Perhaps you didn't notice they are the New YORK Giants.

This is truly the greatest injustice in the history of the world. Ever.

I'm not criticizing the decision. I'm just trying to figure out why the last 2 times they won, they had it in the Meadowlands.

I assume its because of the current administration.

Redskins play in Maryland. IF they won, they might parade in DC. Hopefully it will still be in MD, as I dislike the redskins.

First off, the Giants never won the SB when Giuliani was mayor, so we'll never know what he would have done. I would guess since he is a huge sports fan that he would have thrown them a parade.

Secondly, they are still having the parade at Giants Stadium, but that's at 4 o'clock or something like that. Both states are getting a chance to participate which is great. Yes NYC has to foot the bill for the sanitation dept. to clean up the mess, but they did change the logo to "NY," so that should be good enough for a parade down the canyon of heroes in lower Manhattan in my opinion.

First time they won, Mayor Koch didn't want a parade. The second time they won, supposedly NYC officials didn't want a parade because it was right at the start of the Gulf War, and they thought it wouldn't be appropriate.

They're still having a celebration at the Meadowlands after the parade is over.

My guess is that it is tied to a geographic market.

The Washington Redskins play in Maryland and practice in Virginia. The times that they have won their Super Bowls, parades were held in Washington DC.

Hey, the Statue of Liberty is often listed on maps as across the state line into New Jersey, but it still counts as New York too! And most of Ellis Island is actually New Jersey.

Because the bulk of the NY Giant Fans are from NY. And NYC is the representative location for the gathering points for a collective celebration of the bulk of this fan base.

When the NY Islanders win, they celebrate on Hempstead Tpke across from the Coliseum where the bulk of the fans are.

When the NJ Devils play, the celebrate around there arena where the bulk of the fans are in NJ.

When The NY Jets win... oh yeah.. that hasn't happened in 30 years.. oh well maybe someday this NY Jet fan from Long Island will get to go downtown and celebrate a Ticker Tape Parade .. sigh..

I'm sure a parade down Broadway is quite a bit more impressive than a parade in a fucking parking lot in Jersey.
