2005 Rose Bowl Game® Thread: Who ya got?

Pregame has already been going on for an hour on one sports station here in Austin. The other station just fired up theirs. It is pretty much impossible to get a pizza delivered anywhere within 50 miles of here.

Start the *@^# game already!!!!

Given how much yammering about this being the game of all games, I expect a thoroughly uninteresting game.

USC, and they got it right this year (for once) obviously since there are only 2 undefeated BCS conference teams and these two were 1 and 2 the whole way.

I'm going with the defending champs.

Yes, Texas beat Ohio State this year...but that's basically it. And yes, Vince Young isn't that great.

Ohio State wasn't the team they are today at that point in the season though.

Troy Smith wasn't even the full time QB then.

You don't have to convince me. That's why Pharoh thinks they're the better team.

$UC beat:

at #24 Oregon
at #14 Arizona St
at #9 N Dame
#16 Fresno St
#11 UCLA

Texas beat:

at #4 Ohio St
#24 Colorado
#10 Texas Tech

Texas beating Ohio St doesn't mean $UC couldn't have beaten them. $UC had probably the toughest schedule in college football.

USC will win because ESPN told me that USC is the second-greatest team in history.

I respect Texas, but I think Ohio State would beat them if they played now. I still question the BCS even this year. A four team playoff would have been interesting to see. As for tonight's game, I think it'll be USC in a close one 37-31. It wouldn't shock me to see Texas pull off the upset. An interesting statistic I looked up was the record of Texas's opponents in bowl games (4-2) vs. USC's opponents in bowl games (2-4).

That isn't right. USC beat Cal, UCLA, and Arizona State, all of whom won their bowl games.

Grammy Award winner Leann Rimes to perform the National Anthem before the Rose Bowl Game National Championship between USC and Texas.

The United States Air Force is proud to represent our nation’s Armed Forces with a fitting salute to all Americans at home and serving abroad. The Air Force Academy’s Wings of Blue parachute team and the Cadet Chorale singers will astound viewers with electrifying performances.

The Air Force salute continues with an amazing flyover by the B1-B Lancer which is home based at the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas.

The pre-game festivities culminate with the coin toss by the 2006 Tournament of Roses Grand Marshal, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor – all leading up to the thrilling kickoff of the Rose Bowl Game National Championship.
