Big homestand against all the crappy teams from the West. Time for us to pull away (or waste this great opportunity)?

Anyone see Posednik's catch yesterday? Looks like a fan punched him in the face. I wonder why he didnt retaliate? He does get a free hit against the fan, right? At least thats what Sheffield said.

you only get a free shot at the fan if you are the unquestioned LEADER of a team, not just a regular player.

You can see the video at the official white sox page. Under the "sights and sounds" section on the main page.

You haven't been to Yankee stadium in the '80s and early '90s.

As far as that play it really did not look like it was intentional. I'm sure Posednick would have thrown a fit if he felt it was, or at the very least call over security.

Breaking news:

Major League Baseball has suspended Chicago White Sox outfielder Scott Podsednik for 20 games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions in last night's game. "Shocking," said Vice President in charge of discipline, Bob Watson. "Shocking and disgusting, and we will not stand for this kind of behavior."

The incident Watson refers to is a play Podsednik made on a foul ball hit by Tony Womack along the left field wall. Reportedly frustrated by his team's inability to score runs against the New York Yankees and Mike Mussina, the left fielder viciously assaulted a fan's right hand with his face. The All-Star now claims that he was simply attempting to field a pop fly as it drifted into the stands, but Major League Baseball was quick to disagree.

Baseball's commissioner Bud Selig, already fighting negative publicity this season surrounding the steroids scandals, scolded Podsednik. "He showed a disturbing lack of self-restraint," insisted Selig. "He has a lot to learn, and he could certainly learn from the unquestioned leader of his opponent...or one of the other unquestioned leaders." Asked how many times he watched the event to make his determination, Selig responded, "None. But I didn't have to. I received a phone call describing the attack from someone I trust implicitly. Geor---this person demanded, or asked, that I take immediate action, and that's what I did. I am a man of action."

The commissioner is still determining how many wins to award the New York franchise in order to compensate for the player's actions. "They'll get at least 3 for that ridiculous name of his."

There was another kinda controversial play during the White Sox/Yankee game last night, too. Dye makes a good catch robbing A-Rod of a double. When he tries to double up Sheff at 1st, the ball hits A-Rod walking back to the dugout and went into foul territory. The play was inconsequential, but the conspiracy theory is that A-Rod did it on purpose. The video is unclear, though.

You know, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if, a) he hadn't been watching the throw seeing exactly where it was going and where he was, and b) if he weren't a rotten piece of crap.

I thought the video was pretty clear. A-Rod watched Dye throw and watched the ball fly in and at the last moment turned around and put up his arms right before the ball hit him!

And essentially, since A-Rod was already ruled out on the fly ball, Sheffield should have called out on interference.

Contreras pitching tonight. I figure the White Sox will need to score 7-8 runs to win tonight.
