Yes and no.

On the one hand, it's hard not to get pumped for a chance to beat Mexico.

On the other hand, it is the least important game in qualifying. With the top three teams going to the World Cup, and T&T and Panama having no realistic chance of getting to the top bit, even if Mexico sweeps us, we'll qualify by beating up on the others. It's good for pride, and it's the toughest game in qualifying, but the game against Guatemala in the midweek is actually much more important.

Why pumped?

Is this an important game towards the world cup?

If it's a friendly game than there is no need to get pumped because they are only in trial.

In recent times USA has come up on top against other teams. Mexico is going to a difficult time right now. There are many problems within the system that doesn't allow great players to be on the team. It's all political and it's sad!

Yes; it's not. Plus it's a good chance to test yourselves against a hostile crowd full of assholes in a terrible environment for a soccer game.

Well, not our best effort.

- What was Arena thinking starting in a 4-5-1? The lone striker formation puts too much pressure on our midfield and requires too much running, especially playing at 7,000 feet and in Mexico City smog.

- I thought Keller really overcommitted on the first goal. I'm not sure he could have stopped it, and Gooch blew the mark on the final header, but there's no reason for KK to have been on his back in the net at that point.

- Good poise from the US in the second half. That very easily could have gotten out of hand.

- Losing Beasley on Wednesday was big. That's a game we must have; Guatemala is likely the fourth team (i.e., the best team to not get one of the three automatic berths), so a win at home would do much to keep them down there.
