Detroit Baseketball

Last night after the baseball game, I started a thread about the Red Sox. Needless to say the thread was closed probably due to high number of previous Red Sox threads. My problem was that the thread title was changed from "Bosox fans" to "Botox fans". Although funny, its not right for anyone to change what Ive written. On two different occasions Ive heard of peoples thread titles or posts being involuntarily changed, often to add humor. I feel this is inappropiate to misrepresent someone because our words are basically all we have on a forum. Call it what you want but I think thats wrong.

You can always see the original thread title by looking at the message.

It's humor, and while there are some rules some us thing are stupid, I'm sure... I don't think many mind this.

Also, you're posting in the wrong forum...

Forum Feedback and Support. Though really, it doesn't matter, just post it wherever, the idiot mods are good about moving threads.

Seriously, when they pass around the sheets with popcorn, cookies, candles etc that their kids are selling, it's a good idea to buy something. You scratch their back, and they'll scratch yours.

Look it is all in fun. I dont know who did it but you could just report the thread and ask for it to be changed back next time.

I feel you gmal. I remember this certain post that I may or may not have posted incorrectly in the Election Forum. Since I can't fully remember, I'll take the blame for posting incorrectly (but sometimes I wonder).

However, after it was moved the mods changed the subject line, it was moved again to the Book Forum. I just deleted it.

It's all fun and games until your pants are burned off from the flames (the members at Talk aren't that forgiving).

He does have a point though.

Recently someone changed:

Bjork to perform on Letterman

to

Bjork to perform surgery on Letterman

Necessary? No. Funny? No.

I personally like thread title changes when they are a) funny and b) used sparingly. Too much of a good thing can make it stale. And like gmal2003 said, all that we have here is what we write. That being said, bfrank said it best: report to a mod and ask them to change it back. Easy enough.

BTW, mods, nice title change!

Actually, it kind of gave a kick to that forum. Some people actually...gasp...replied (I know hard to believe in Book).

Man, whoever changed that wasn't even trying. "Dork to perform on Letterman" would have been much better.

I know its usually just fun and games. I wasn't even mildly mad at the particular "Botox" thing, but I just wouldn't want to see my words get twisted around. I realize that the mods would probably not twist around one's thoughts outside of the light humor context but I just wanted to speak my peace. I wouldn't want to see an interesting or weird post/thread title and have to debate whether its the actual person who wrote this or a joke. Anywho, it was just what was on my mind at the time so I shared it with you all.

P.S. Its the same gmal kvr, Im just swimming in a river called De Nile. Its early though.

who ever did it must have felt you would not mind. Again if it happens again just ask for it to be changed back.

Some of us just get carried away with all the power!!!

Side story- I was in a political debate and I went to quote a poster and hit edit on his thread then typed my POV and posted.

I had taken out his point and put mine in under his name

I did tell him though
