Looking at the attendance numbers everyday (thanks to DE), I am kind of pissed that the Cardinals aren't averaging around 40,000/night. They are playing better than anyone thought they would, particularly the pitching, yet they still pull in low-to-mid 30k/game. And I know Busch Stadium may not be the best place in the world to catch a game, but it is far from the worst. And don't tell me everyone around here all of a sudden cannot deal w/ the humidity and have decided to watch the games from the comfort of their air-conditioned homes. A first place team has been in town for the past three days, and they still didn't draw as well as they should have. [/end rant]

Have a good time tonight, Andy - I predict Griffey will hit a solo shot off of Carpenter in the fourth, but the Reds will lose by several runs.

And to the Twins and their recent hot streak.

Damn. Tribe missed a great chance to get back to even on the season. And as much as I have derided their team, (hate the ownership), they are starting to grow on me. Too bad the bully has been so bad, if not they would likely be in first place, or at least within a game or so.

Yesterday, Bostondirtdogs.com reported that Schilling would miss his next start. Well, I guess nobody told Schilling that because he is denying the report.

The only thing I care about in this series is that the Red Sox don't act like little bitches and actually pitch to Barry Bonds.

Wakefield will pitch to him unless the situation calls for an IBB. Since he's a knuckleballer, he just throws it. It wont be like one of those pitchers who walks him "unintentionally" by not giving him anything to hit.

And Pedro will pitch to him.

God I hope so. There is nothing I hate more then the intentional walk.

Its nice to see that Lowe finally got things going a little bit, hopefully he's turned it around. Ill be in NYC this weekend, think I could find the game on somewhere? I plan on wearing my Schilling and Ramirez jerseys all this weekend, just cant help it. Its funny living in Gainesville I get more heat about all the Redsox gear I wear rather than when I wear my FSU stuff, go figure.

Part of the problem is the big hole next to the stadium. Even though Whitey Herzog has a commercial on the radio talking about how the parking isn't bad, from what I hear it is terrible. I have a friend who works at AB, and he lives about a half hour out of town. He said it will take us about an hour and a half to get into the stadium tonight. My luck will be that we'll miss the first inning or so, and Griffey will hit #500 in the first. The numbers should be bumped up a bit this weekend. I bet it will be standing room only tonight.

Pedro about Barry Bonds:

"As much as I think I deserve respect when Im on the mound, I think the same of him when he is in the batters box. If I have to walk him not to lose, I will. But if its to get a win, Ill challenge him."

I was going to mention that, but if we are supposed to be the "best fans in baseball" it shouldn't be a problem. There is the Metro-link and other places to park (just further away).

I hope there is a better crowd tonight. Andy, do yourself a favor and go into the stadium from the north end or the NE end by the Musial statue. The hole is on the south side of the stadium - just stay away from that as best as possible.

I was surprised the Marlins sent down Mike Neu. I thought he was pretty good in the bullpen. The a's probably should have kept him since their bullpen couldnt be any worse. Mecir has been my nemesis for years. He even sucks in the baseball video games. lame screwball.

As for Koch... eh.

He'll be middle relief for the Marlins and there's no chance of him closing... plus they only gave up a mid-level prospect that's probably too old to be considered a prospect anyways (25 years old and in AA). Plus they got cash to take care of Koch's salary.

But Bonds, whose knowledge of baseball history had him humorously mocking a visitor stumbling to draw comparisons between Williams's feats with the Red Sox and those of the 39-year-old Giants slugger, said Boston is a place he would never call home.

"Boston is too racist for me,'' he said. "I couldn't play there.''

It is a judgment, he acknowledges, not derived of firsthand experience -- he missed the 1999 All-Star Game, played in Boston, because of an injury -- but on word-of-mouth.

"Only what guys have said," he said, "but that's been going on ever since my dad [Bobby] was playing baseball. I can't play like that. That's not for me, brother."

When it was suggested the racial climate has changed in Boston, Bonds demurred.

"It ain't changing," he said. "It ain't changing nowhere."

They built a tunnel to honor Ted Williams in Boston. What did he imagine would be built for him?

"Nothing, man," he said. "I'm black. They don't build stuff for blacks."
http://www.boston.com/sports/basebal...blasting_zone/

But what I don't get is why people don't like him.
