I'm predicting 4 HRs over 3 games for Manny.

And yes, 9:05 is crap. Stupid Moutain Time Zone. I mean honestly, why not just join up with the Pacific Time Zone... seriously, how many major TV markets are in Mountain time? 1? 2 maybe?

At least I can take comfort in the fact that it is Contreras and Sturtze going for the Yanks in the next two games.

Hopefully, but Zambrano is going for the Cubs. And the Astros, over the last road trip, dropped from 1st to 7th in the league in runs scored. In other words, it doesn't look good.

I haven't talked to Y2K yet, but I think we're going to be at the game tonight.

I'm hoping Zambrano can look like he did in his last start and not like his previous start against the Astros at Minute Maid. Right now seems to be a good time to face Houston. They just look more sluggish as of late. Bagwell is struggling, as is Biggio, Everett's hurt, Hidalgo is in a massive slump and Pettitte is still on the DL. The Stros are getting a mild taste of what the Cubs have been dealing with all season.

It's just all going wrong right now.

Add to all you've mentioned: There are legitimate injury concerns facing Oswalt yet again, Wade Miller is spotty and wild, Mike Lamb won't be on the bench for the next few days due to a funeral, Morgan Ensberg has had 160+ ABs since his last HR, the team's hottest available hitter is Jose freaking Vizcaino, Redding is back to being a batting practice-quality starter, any reliever other than Miceli, Lidge, and Dotel has been garbage, and the team has the permanent disadvantage of being helmed by Jimy Williams. Fun times in Houston.

But if they can just manage to win or split the series, they'll still hold the season series lead over Chicago.

Yeah, but I don't really consider any of the previous games with the Stros this season to be a fair representation of how things will be a month or two from now. They've yet to play the Cubs with Sosa in the lineup, nor have they faced Wood. They've only faced Prior once and we saw how that ended. I'll be all for seeing these two play once the Cubs get back to near full strength.

and The Road Kings are playing the A's @ Busch.

Zito and Morris - two hellacious curve balls in one house. Too bad I'm not going.

Heh. Did you see that LaRussa talked about the A's still being the team he pulls for as a fan? That's gotta go over well these next few days.

I don't consider the current Astros to be a fair representation of their capabilities either. That's why they play 19.

Our softball team put up 34 runs last night, including 21 in one inning (15 of those with 2 outs). Up 31-4 at one point, we won 34-14.

And in case you missed it:

HR: Scorcho (4)

Eh, they are in the other league, so it doesn't really bother me. Plus, he guided them to three straight Series and they actually won one of them. Not like his Cardinals - who have chocked away every chance of advancing to the Big Stage since he has been here.

But you're right, the average Whitey-loving Cardinals fan will eat this up - this will get old REALLY fast over the next few days (for me anyhow).

WHAT!!!!!

Stupid Contreras! He should star in the next "When Good Things go Bad" video.

I'm not half as worried about Sturtze as I am about Contreras. Watching him pitch is like playing Russian Roulette....you don't know which of the six innings is going to explode in your face.

Oh goodie, so does this mean I'll be getting text messages from the both of you tonight? Y2K hammered me with 4 last night. Then he screamed at me for 30 minutes.

Actually, it was pretty cool since I got to hear Alou hit a homerun.
