Computers and Sports - Statistics and Game Strategy

Thats the name of a presentation that I have to give next week in my IST 305 class.

Do you guys have any thoughts on how computers are used with statistics and strategy? Here is what I've come up with on my own so far.

Stat tracking, obvious. Much more in depth now than before computers. Baseball is my main focus. I'm also going to include calculation of the QB rating.

Strategy - Application of the statistics. I know baseball is the obvious one, righty/lefty theory, guys that have a higher average against certain pitchers. What side of field they hit to and where the defense lines up, etc. etc.

What else is there for strategy? Do coaches use Computers now instead of chalk boards to draw up plays in the NFL or NBA? Do you guys have any links with any information on game strategy?

Thanks, Mike

Computers are also used by professional athletes to download porn.

what about using the stats for a pitcher against an opposing hitter or vice versa. Maybe the coach will put in a PH or a releiver based on previous stats. Also the lefty/righty matchups within a game.
