Hear Dr. Jack on ESPN radio today and he said that he already had voted for LeBron but after last night's game he would change his vote over to 'Melo if he had the chance.

Anyone want to explain why you picked one over the other?

Carmelo, but I'm biased.

LeBron's going to win it... but both of them are equally as deserving.

The way Carmelo has finished off the season very strong to give Denver an opportunity to get into the playoffs is why I chose him over Lebron.

I picked Lebron, although i wouldnt mind seeing co-ROY awards. Their numbers are similar, but Lebron has more assists, and had to step in and be the Cavs leader and playmaker immediately. Carmelo, while his team is contending for the playoffs, has had a better supporting cast. I think of McInnis didn't go down for the Cavs, we'd be seeing Lebron in the playoffs as well.

Anthony should get it as he to slightly win over on Lebron by just a bit. But I think Lebron will get it.

Lebron -- 21 PPG, 5.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists
Ranks #15 in the NBA in Steals Per Game(1.62)
Ranks #13 in the NBA in Assists(451.0)
Ranks #8 in the NBA in Points(1610.0)

Carmelo -- 21 PPG, 6 rebounds, 2.8 assists
Ranks #6 in the NBA in Points(1696.0)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Free Throws(404.0)
Ranks #5 in the NBA in Field Goal Attempts(1425.0)
Ranks #6 in the NBA in Field Goals Made(612.0)

Close stats... but I'd give the edge to Lebron. So much was placed upon him, coming right out of high school, the next Jordan... and he has met or surpassed his rookie expectations. Cleveland not making the playoffs has as much to do with the supporting cast as anything.

You don't agree?

Andre Miller is a superb point guard. Camby has actually been healthy. Voshon Lenard and Boykins are solid veterans.

Clevland has some great young players like Boozer and Ilguaskus, but the sputtered with Ricky Davis and i think struggled to figure out whether Lebron should be a point guard or not.

I voted 'Melo. I just think he's been more valuable to his team.

A bit biased here, but I voted for the better player, the one with the far higher upside. I think the vote should be as lopsided as it will be.

Of coures they do, just as the anti-LeBron bias does in most of the posts in this thread. I just like to wear my biases on my sleeve. My assessment is accurate though. LeBron is the better player with a higher upside. I really do not think you will find NBA analyst who would disagree with the latter statement. He also had to take on a much larger role on a much worse team, one that underwent two in-season transformations, than Melo did. I think the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. And though the following is merely an opinion, I am absolutely convinced that if a poll were taken amongst the players who compete against the two of them, LeBron would be the overwhelming winner.

I think if the Nuggets make the playoffs in the west, and the cav's can't make it in the east (where losing teams are getting in) then mello should be ROY.

I think Lebron's ball handling responsiblities and passing puts him over the top.
