wow, if you project out Manny's #'s to equal Bonds, he's already past where Bonds is now.

Although, Bonds' HR to AB ratio is much, much lower.

I'm not surprised to see Piazza with the highest average. The only other player who could compare is Frank Thomas, who was a great pure and power hitter earlier in his career.

If you make the cutoff 297 homeruns isntead of 300, the other Martinez beats Piazza in batting average (albeit barely).

Of course I wouldn't call Edgar a homerun hitter (although I wouldn't call Tino one either; 300 for Tino suprised me).

i actually had planned to only list the top 20
but it seemed silly to leave out the only other member of the 300 HR club

Nah, that's not it at all.

I've just known Piazza to always be a good pure hitter. Didn't he win a couple batting titles 5 or 6 years ago?

There was no arguing. Maybe we should argue over the crappy formatting of that damn thing you call a table.

well, when i brought it up.. I knew it was just a little too big for 1024x768.. but couldnt decide which stat to take out.. I actually probably would have had to take 2 of them away.. as far as that goes.. I did remove a couple stat columns (stuff like caught stealing) so it wouldnt go as far..
the side scrolling is also what made me decide to break it up in my next post.. but as long as I was breaking it, i figured I might as well go ahead and run a formula to include the rankings

oh.. and if anyone has a resolution lower than 1024x768.. i wasnt really concerned about how much you have to scroll.. noone should be using 800x600 or 640x480 anymore anyways

Why is that weird? The guy is widely recognized as the best hitting catcher of all time. Is it just because he's had a couple of lackluster seasons?

That coupled with the fact that he's been on two very, very poor teams. Don't get me wrong, I think he's great. It just strikes me that with all the talent on that list (Manny, A-Rod), that Piazza has the highest average.
