NCAA Basketball Championship Game 4/5/04: GT vs. UConn

Okay, just thought I'd get the thread started for tonight's NCAA men's basketball championship game.

The match-ups are intriguing and I think it's going to come down to whether or not the referees let the teams play in the early goings (i.e. not saddle the big men with ticky-tack fouls), and who shoots better (and who converts better in transition).

I'll be rooting for GT.

I thought about going to see it at a sport bar with a crowd, but the game starts so late, and I'd rather by watching the game at home in HDTV anyway.

It'll be great to see the 2 best teams in the nation face off.

Go Huskies!

I may be going to a friend's house to watch it in HD, but I still haven't made up my mind yet. I might just want to watch it in the peace and quiet of my own house since the wife will be gone tonight.

Oh yeah - Yellow Jackets all the way, baby!!!

I'm contemplating putting cash on the Georgia Tech moneyline.

I will be pulling for GT but I think UCONN will win and Okafor will win the MOP award.

If Ga. Tech wins tonight, that makes 3 of 4 Nat'l titles for the ACC. Furthermore, the ACC already boasts 6 Final Four appearances in the 21st Century (dook and Maryland have both appeared twice, Tech and UNC each once).

If UConn wins, that's 3 of 6 for the Big East. Thus, tonight marks a true battle of Conference supremacy between the ACC and The Big East.

Go Tech!

I'll be pulling for UCONN. As long as Okafor stays healthy and out of foul trouble they should win by 10 or so IMO. If not, the advantage goes slighty to GT, depending mainly on how Ben Gordon plays.

Gah, I think my friends have guilted me into going to a sport bar to go watch the game (citing the "when do you think you'll ever see GT playing for a NCAA championship again?" argument). I am having a hard time concentrating on work today. I just want the game to be over with (one way or another).

Don't do it!

Just take the points and hope for a close game.

Did the points go to around 5.5 points for GT (UConn being the favorite)? That's a pretty large spread, isn't it?

If I bet, I'm betting GT on the money line.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing if Calhoun dares to put his 3 6'10" tall power guys on the floor at the same time, and then see if Hewitt comes in with his quick guys to see if GT can run them out of the arena.

I still like GT's overall depth to be the difference in this game.

Anyone else watching in HDTV experiencing audio problems? You can barely hear the announcers...I've tried both with and without surround stereo - the annoucners are still barely audible. No problems with the non-HDTV broadcast.

CBS also had this problem during the Super Bowl pre-game, but had it corrected by the time the game started...just wondering if this is a problem with my local affiliate or a nationwide problem.

The block was clean, but he used his body on him.

RE: above post

Well, whatever the glitch was, they seem to have corrected it during this past commercial break...everything's fine now.
