The NFL is the most boring sport in the world to watch live. It was meant to be watched at home, so you can change the channel during all the crap. Unlike football, hockey is the most exciting sport to watch live.

Duke University has the best college basketball program in the country.

Necro! Despite the face that he does well in viewer polls, this is an unpopular opinion here:

Chris Collinsworth is the best NFL color commentator on TV today.

16 year bump to say that, and you misspell his name. Lol.

The NBA hasn't been worth following since the 90s.

I'm curious if anyone has changed their opinions since 2003. Is LeBron still overrated? Are baseball games still not too long?

Even baseball came to agree that their games were too long so whomever said that is vindicated. I am curious to see a followup opinion on this one:

Speaking of commentators, Joe Buck is a very good one.

The NBA is as good now as it was in the 80's or 90's.

Single elimination playoffs in sports suck.

I've never really had an issue with Collinsworth. I think he does have favorite teams and players, which angers many partisan fans.

My probably unpopular opinion: multi-game playoffs are stupid, every sport should be single elimination.

Hell, I might make the argument that a 4 game playoff has ruined the sport. No, I will make that argument. No maybe about it.

My unpopular counter: except for the NBA, there shouldn't be playoffs. Related, March Madness is the absolute thing in all of American sports.

That would basically ruin the NHL. The NHL playoffs probably do need to be shorter, but converting any round, let alone every round, into single elimination would be a dreadful mistake.

Re: The Unpopular SPORTS Opinion Thread

The Lakers were unfairly hated by those outside of Los Angeles during their championship run in the 2000s. Those were damn good and talented teams back then.

i guess it is and still is the cool thing to hate all things Los Angeles if you’re not from here.

This is unpopular?

I'd say Al is getting really whiney.

As for multi-game playoffs, that Pharoh carves out the NBA. That's the one that most needs one game playoffs.

And holy thread resurrection. Miss das. Best contributor here ever.

I agree that single elimination game for the NHL playoffs doesn't work.

However, I think the length of the NHL playoffs is fine IF the regular season is shortened... which leads me to a probably unpopular opinion.

The NHL regular season should be reduced to 60 games (maybe even 50) instead of 82. The playoffs should start no later than late February.

Oh god no

Shorter, sure. Would love a return to a 5 game first round and there should never be 2 days between games, but 1 game is for the pits.

The NBA is entirely without merit. Second that March Madness is the best thing in sports, and that das is missed.

Re: The Unpopular SPORTS Opinion Thread

If we're talking about unpopular opinions, I'd go the route of March Madness is completely overrated since I feel like everyone generally loves it.

Re: The Unpopular SPORTS Opinion Thread

the NBA is now the weakest of the big 4 pro leagues
Tony Romo is 100 times better than Phil "please SHUT UP ALREADY!!" Simms was as a color guy
the NBA and NHL should have 4 teams in the playoffs per conference with each round but the finals as a best of 5
the MLB's wildcard card game is great
