Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

A tie between NFL & NBA...MLB use to be number one, but has fallen into third after the fun of the steroid era ended.

I watch and enjoy pretty much everything. But Golf is number one and I get to watch it virtually all year long. It's the off-season passion of so many baseball, football, hockey and basketball stars they can't even be counted.

Voted MLB, though I might watch a little more NFL. I'll watch a little NBA and college bball at playoff time. College football only when the locals are good, and even then probably only bowl games.

NHL Hockey hands down

NFL Football second.

Everything else I couldn't really care less about.

Would rather watch re-runs of 1980s and 1990s NBA games than today's NBA.

And I'd rather stare at a brick wall for three hours than watch baseball.

Tennis or soccer. Can't choose between the two. But I'd much rather play either sport than watch them; I just don't have a rallying partner.

100% agree with this... NFL is getting to be borderline unwatchable for me.

Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

Growing up in a pro sports town like Philly, I am what's known as a 4 for 4 fan. I love all 4 pro teams (Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers) equally and follow them no matter what.

When I was in high school/college I used to love College Sports, but being older now I just can't watch College Football or College Basketball anymore as it should be for young kids to enjoy. I kind of feel sad for people around my age (I am 42 years old) who still go to their College Alma Mater games as you should just root for them and watch them at your house. I don't know it's just kinda of creepy to go to games when the majority of people who are there are 20 years old, as I think its time to move on. I would ask those people, "Do you go back and watch your High School Alma games too?"

But if you put a gun to my head and I could only have one sport I would go with Hockey and the Flyers. As much as I love all 4 pro sports, I probably love Hockey just alittle bit more then the others.

Major college football is big business. The majority of people in attendance are way over 20.

I don't have a problem with fans who grew up in that area and always rooted for that College Teams. For instance, if you grew up in Alabama, you were either an Alabama or Auburn fan from birth.

I guess I get annoyed at my friends who graduated from a College (they didn't live near growing up) and still goto the games. It is almost like they are still trying to feel like they are 21 years old again. I honestly haven't attended my alma mater's games since I graduated because I moved on in life with my pro teams.

I always ask my friends, "If you go back to your College Alma Maters Football games, why don't you go back to watch your High School Alma Maters Football games?" And they always answer, "Well that's just creepy to be around a bunch of 16 year old kids!"

Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

I think one big difference is college football is a huge business, with big tv coverage, national rankings and championships, and typically 50000+ attendance. For cities or regions without an NFL team, that becomes their football passion too. Thus, it is vastly different going to a college football game than a high school one.

Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

I don't get the love for NCAAF. So many useless squash matches. Anytime A top 25 team plays like Alcorn St.,Vasser or Toledo Tech who they beat 80-3 it makes a joke of the sport when literally 1 or 2 at most of their squad would be able to make a Div 1 squad. It would be like if an NFL team for 4 games of their schedule played Lupe o le Soaga, Hamburg Blue Devils,Chico's Prison Guards and Saskatchewan Roughriders Reserves Team

Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

The number of those kinds of games is going down rapidly though. As conferences continue to expand, many conferences have gone to nine conference games, leaving only 3 non-conference slots on the schedule. The Big 12 and the Pac-12 already play nine games, and the Big Ten will move to 9 next year. The ACC and the SEC are the only holdouts from the Power 5 which are still playing 8 game conference schedules.

The Big Ten has also banned games against FCS (aka Div 1-AA) opponents (excepting those that were already scheduled prior to the ban) and mandated that at least one non-conference game per season be played against a power 5 opponent. The ACC and SEC also have the second mandate.

Re: Favorite sport that you follow?

CFB is still the only sport where the regular season still matters. Yeah there are some give away games, but at least the season counts.
