I guess it would be a valuable contract.

probably means he signed with nike, and they are creating a shoe for him..

same thing happened with VC and others... they usually wore jordans.

in-preseason, he taped up his shoes so that no one could see the logo. he was weighing option between Nike (which makes sense seeing that Nike outfits the Lakers) and Reebok ( )

it's too bad.. i liked his second season shoes - the (all black) KB8II.

more on the split in this old article

I think he also wore and1's in some games.

Where did they come from as far as sneaker making? and how did they get to be the company they are.

Since he emulates Jordan in every aspect of his life, the next logical step would be for him to where Mike's shoes.

No wonder Adidas is courting LeBron James so hard, they have to get 'the next big thing' under contract since they lost Kobe.

The way that I read the ESPN article, it sounds like Adidas dumped Kobe(probably because nobody would buy those fugly Kobe II shoes). The article says that Adidas could have exercised a two year contract extension with Kobe, but declined to do so. Adidas decided to pin their marketing hopes with T-Mac.

Maybe I should have stated that I did not read the article until after I posted my thoughts on the Kobe/adidas split.

Another thing - people don't necessarily like Kobe as much as some other players - I would think that would have an effect on shoe sales, etc. Maybe that is why adidas dumped him or let him go so easily.

i actually was under the impression that he was "let go" because of his poor shoe sales which were due to the ugly nature of the shoe.

considering the Kobe I & II retailed for $125 (the T-Mac retails for $100, the Mad Handles were $85) i don't think it came down to just looks. i have both Kobe I & II (i didn't pay retail, are you freaking nuts?) and IMO, they weren't made very well to play in.

also, the ADIDAS Kobe clothing line was very much like the Nike Golf line by Tiger Woods. way too expensive to buy.
