Troy Percival said that the World Series baseballs were the hardest baseballs he had encountered (offering an excuse to why so many homers were being hit in the WS so far).

I wouldn't quite call it an excuse as much as it was just an observation. Huge HRs are being hit by both sides - in this series, I really don't think one team has a huge HR advantage.

Perhaps he was offering up an explanation as to why Bonds ball went 475' instead of 465'

P.S. - Even though Ramon will give up a HR to Bonds, the Angels will win - my prediction: 7-4

The HR that Bonds hit into the cove vs. the Cardinals went 425'. So it's about 390-400' to the cove down the line since that ball went deep into the cove.

What's up with the umps? 2 times Lofton was out...now they've got bases loaded with one out instead of 1st with 2 outs.

Looks like it worked to me. Should-have-been-out-Lofton would have scored regardless of whether or not there was a runner on 2nd.

only if you concede that your team cant get bonds out
because benito came in and knocked in a run..
if they had gone after bonds and kept him from knocking in the run, then they might have escaped the inning unharmed

so yea.. it did work.. bonds didnt get the rbi, santiago did

Considering the circumstances and the pitcher, 1 run by Santiago is much better than 3 by Bonds (which he could easily do off the pitcher that lead the league in HRs given up).

P.S. Glaus getting a bit too close for comfort Giants fans?

exactly... they survived if you concede that bonds is going to beat you, anytime you pitch to him.. and that your pitchers cant get him out..
there is no shame in that.. very few pitchers have the balls to go after him..

yea.. glaus just missed it a couple times.. now he can go sit back on the bench and tell everyone how close he was to tying it up

Not as ridiculous as Buck Showalter walking Bonds with the BASES LOADED a couple years back.

But the D-Backs won that game, and that's all it counts.
