Actually, my favorite has to be either Lawrence of Arabia or The Godfather II.
Casablanca was in 1943 if I remember right lastsho.

Braveheart, with American Beauty a close second, and Shakespeare in Love a close third. Runners up include, Silence of the Lambs, Schindler's List, Dances With Wolves, and others that are slipping my mind. Hopefully Gladiator will take Bravehearts place at the top of the list this year. Or maybe even one of the other movies I've heard great things about but haven't got to see because the theaters in my area suck.

"Cinema Paradiso" but I'm cheating as it's a best foreign film Oscar so....
The first "best picture" on my personal favorites list clocks in at a whopping number 13

Here is the list of films that both won the Oscar and are films that I feel can, without reservation, consider worthy (the list gets much longer if I include "deserving but with reservations").
Gone with the Wind
Casablanca
The Godfather
Annie Hall
Amadeus
Certainly "American Beauty" and probably "Shakespeare in Love" will make this list eventually {I feel it takes at least five years and multiple viewings to make the "without reservation" list.
