Today Show host Savannah Guthrie’s Mother abducted and whereabouts unknown.
This is scary. She was apparently abducted and harmed from her home in Arizona. Here is the report. Her mom is 84 and needs her medication or she could die. Guthrie left NY to go home and pulled out of Olympic coverage.

I guess it’s good to have your kid on The Today Show. NBCNightly News just dedicated the majority of their broadcast to this story. Luckily, nothing else is going on in the country.

That is sad.
The Today anchors usually take time off or go MIA and you wonder if they are ok but nobody saw this coming.

In all seriousness though, I cannot imagine what she is going through. My heart would absolutely sink in terror not knowing what is happening to my elderly and last living parent. Her Dad died many years ago already.

Terrible thing to happen, let's hope they keep her medicine going if she has issues, they don't want her dying in their hands if they've kidnapped her.
But I'm curious as to why? I know Savannah is a TV host, but she's not really a megastar right? Has she recently made some political comments that could have set someone off?

Apparently the alleged ransom demand is for bitcoin. The note makes the demand and says “or else”. They also claim to know what was in the house and what Savannah’s mom was wearing.

Weird that a kidnapper wouldn't have left a note behind. Or contacted within the first 24 hours with concrete info.
No word on anything stolen from the property so wouldn't be a botched robbery where they wanted to dispose of the body which would be hard to believe anyway.
Maybe it'll be something simple like she bumped her head, wandered off and the cops just never searched thoroughly enough.

There's a stunning twist in the kidnapping of 'TODAY' anchor Savannah Guthrie's mother Nancy ... her son-in-law might be the prime suspect, according to Ashleigh Banfield.
Banfield -- the former host of "Banfield" on NewsNation -- reported Tuesday night ... Tommaso Cioni has been identified by police as a possible suspect in the case, citing a trusted law enforcement source.
The veteran journalist reports Cioni is married to Savannah's sister Annie -- and the two were the last people to see Nancy on Saturday night. Annie reportedly had dinner with Nancy that night ... but it's unclear if Cioni was also present.
Now, Banfield reports investigators have towed Annie's car, which has "some connection" to 50-year-old Cioni. Banfield adds that all the cameras at Nancy's Tucson, Arizona, home were smashed in.

TMZ is reporting that Savannah's brother-in-law "could be a prime suspect" per 'trusted sources in the Sheriff's Department'.
There was blood in the home matching the victim and a trail of blood leading away from the property. This is really f'ed up. Regardless of the fame involved, breaking, entering and kidnapping an old lady just isn't a crime we ever see. It's the opening of Fargo, for God's sake.

It is certainly acceptable to question the media's priorities, and this crime would not be receiving this level of national attention if the victim's daughter was not famous, but it is unfortunate phrasing to suggest that Nancy Guthrie "has it good" in this situation.

Wealthy and famous are two different things. If Savannah Guthrie was just some wealthy Arizona businesswoman, it would be a motivation for the kidnapping, but the story would not receive the level of national media attention it is getting.
