This is Alexander's first appearance on SNL. He's the first Skarsgård to appear on the show. I thought for sure that Stellan had hosted before. I was wrong.

Believe it or not, but this is only Cardi B's second time on the show and the last time was when she was the MG in April 2018 when Chadwick Boseman was the host.

I just gotta point out. There’s two episodes on that list where I have zero name recognition of either person. I guess I’m just getting old. I’m guessing this is what it was like for my parents in the mid to late nineties.

Interesting. I don’t think there’s any Host on that list who would be considered ‘niche’ or ‘largely unknown’ so far this season (though certainly some of the music acts are not widely known). Which guests were you stumped by?

I don't know several of them by name, but recognize them when I look them up. Like, "oh, that's the guy from Stranger Things".

I don't, however, recognize Alexander Skarsgård or Teyana Taylor from anything I've seen (based on their wikipedia lists).

I could see not being familiar with Tiana Taylor if you never saw One Battle (though everyone should), but Alexander Skarsgard? He won an Emmy for the huge hit HBO Limited Series Big Little Lies, starred in True Blood, he played Tarzan in the most recent film, starred as The Northman, he stars in Murder Bot, had a huge part in the final two seasons of Succession. He should basically be nearly a household name by now.

I've not see any of those shows/movies you listed for Alexander Skarsgard.

I have to admit that despite his body of work, I really only recognize Alexander from The Northman, and can place his name for being Stellan's son. Otherwise I would identify him as Handsome Actor.

And just like that, they announce a Host I've never heard of :

Now this is one name I can absolutely agree that many will not have heard of. It still boggles my mind though that a lot of hosts/music guests this season are unknown to many.
As for tonight's episode, I am now fully in love with Ashley Padilla.

That might have been the shortest song (fully) performed on SNL since Fear in 1981.

Lot of Jane Wickline tonight.

I thought this was pretty good.

Skarsgard was a pretty energetic host and it was cool seeing his dad show up in 2 sketches.

It felt like a real female heavy show with Padilla, Fineman, Sherman and Wickline showing up a lot.

Connor Storrie is one of the stars of the hottest show on TV, Heated Rivalry. I've never seen the show but he was on Seth Meyers.

Pete Davidson doesn't look or sound anything like Tom Homan.

Sam Seder does a mean Tom Homan.

And that is not a good thing.....she is the Kyle Mooney of the current cast. Just a black void of zero laughs. I would have taken 5 more seasons of Heidi Gardner easily over this humorless nepo hire

Agree, this was one of the better episodes this year. Skaarsgard put everything into it.

Seemed to be getting laughs in skits from what i heard. Check out the play date skit. She got the biggest laugh of the thing.

A rare instance where they did not mail it in before going on a long break.

Maybe they could have brought Bill Skarsgard in for a sketch or Peter Sarsgaard and joke he is related to their family.

I'm also clearly not the only one that laughs at her delivery as the clapboard operator in the Norwegian movie sketch.

And also a good turn as the luger in the pre-taped bit.

Probably her best outing to date (no pun intended), and she didn't even have to play Alyssa, my other favorite bit of hers.
