SNL 12/20/25 (S51E09) H: Ariana Grande - MG: Cher
Opening this up a day early due to other things going on, so here it is... the last episode of 2025!
This is Ariana's fifth time on the SNL schedule. She was the musical guest in Seasons 40 and 49, hosted in Season 50, and pulled double duty in Season 41.
Cher was the musical guest in Seasons 13... and hasn't been on since. She did a cameo on WU in 1992 and performed on the 50th Anniversary Show.

My bad. You're right. My notes were right, I just typed it wrong when I was rearranging the sentence. I corrected it.

Edit to add: I found Cher's joke in the first video cringy but funny ("my presence") and the second video was kind of charming. Should be a good episode.

I'm not sure we can keep you on as the DVDTalk official SNL thread starter if this is the kind of work you'll be turning in. You might want to think about aligning your performance to achieve objectives that enhance outcomes and increase value to the forum. HR will be reaching out.

I think it is great that Grande is on SNL again as host. She does a great job, and we should enjoy her while we can, before someone drops her and breaks into a hundred pieces.

In the biography of Lorne that recently came out, it talks about how he has his "young and hip" music bookers looking for artists who are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, but are due for a break through. He wants SNL to get people on the way up, and be seen as helping break artists, instead of booking already famous people every week, which the show could do.

Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers will write and star in the Searchlight comedy, based on a podcast documenting an Atlantic crossing to face Berghain’s legendary bouncers.
Searchlight Pictures has picked up a comedy from Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers based on a podcast series where two Americans attempt to breach the gates of Berghain, the Berlin techno club known for its soul-crushing rejection rate and mysterious inner sanctum.
The film adapts Why didn’t Chris and Dan get into Berghain?, a two-part Search Engine podcast episode that documented an actual transatlantic journey to infiltrate what many consider the world’s most selective nightclub. Berghain’s door policy remains famously opaque, with bouncers wielding unchecked power over who enters the German techno institution and who goes home humiliated.
“The club does not explain how it makes its decisions about who can enter, but one foolish podcaster will try to explain anyway,” reads the podcast’s description.

Yeah, I know, but last week it seemed like he was in most of the sketches. Obviously they already knew he was short timing, so I expect the same tomorrow.

OMG. That Cher performance. What was that!? If you're going to blatantly lip sync, just get rid of the microphone altogether. No one on the planet believed (no pun) that was live. Auto tune or not. She didn't even have the mic close to her mouth most of the time. And her lip syncing didn't even line up with the actual pre-recorded vocals a few times. That was really sad to watch.
