David Byrne New Album - 'Who Is The Sky?' (9/5/25), plus World Tour
So that will probably kill any speculation of a Talking Heads reunion. But our first new Byrne album in 7 years is still great news, as is a new tour. I love the lead single!

St. Vincent, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, and the Smile drummer Tom Skinner also make appearances on the album, which is led by the single “Everybody Laughs.” Along with the song, Byrne has released its official video, directed by multimedia artist Gabriel Barcia-Colombo.
“Someone I know said, ‘David, you use the word “everybody” a lot.’ I suppose I do that to give an anthropological view of life in New York as we know it,” says Byrne. “Everybody lives, dies, laughs, cries, sleeps and stares at the ceiling. Everybody’s wearing everybody else’s shoes, which not everybody does, but I have done. I tried to sing about these things that could be seen as negative in a way balanced by an uplifting feeling from the groove and the melody, especially at the end, when St. Vincent and I are doing a lot of hollering and singing together. Music can do that – hold opposites simultaneously. I realized that when singing with Robyn earlier this year. Her songs are often sad, but the music is joyous.”
“It took me a second to realize, oh yeah, these songs are personal, but with David’s unique perspective on life in general,” adds Kid Harpoon (aka Tom Hull). “Walking around New York listening to the demo of ‘Everybody Laughs’ was so joyous, because it made me feel like we’re all the same – we all laugh, cry and sing. The thing about David that resonates with a lot of people is that he’s in on the joke. He gets the absurdity of it all, and all of these personal observations are his perspective on it.”
Byrne will also return to the road with a new live show in support of the album. The touring band will comprise 13 musicians, singers and dancers, including members of the “American Utopia” band — which delivered galvanizing sets across the world and ultimately on Broadway and in Spike Lee’s HBO film of the show — all of whom will be mobile throughout the set. The North American tour begins in September, with Australia & New Zealand dates kicking off in January 2026 and European & United Kingdom dates starting the following month. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 13; see the full tour itinerary below.

David Byrne Announces New Album, ‘Who Is the Sky?,’ and World Tour
David Byrne has announced that “Who Is the Sky?,” his first new album since 2018’s “American Utopia,” will be released September 5 on Matador Records. The album was produced by Grammy-winner Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus), while its 12 songs were arranged by the members of New York-based chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra.St.
I never listen to the radio anymore, but for some reason I turned it on while on the way to work. There was a detour, so it took a little longer to get there. In the last moment as I arrived, they announced David Byrne's tour! I was able to get to my office, text my friend, text my wife, signup for presale just as it started, and snagged great mid-level center seats! We missed American Utopia and we won't miss this one! Hey, I should put this in my new coincidences stories ofbthe weird thread! Exclamation points!!!

Yeah, when I was copying the story, I didn't see the rest of the tour dates to cut and paste. Sorry bout that.
So bummed he's not coming to Vegas again. I saw him twice with American Utopia, once on the tour in Vegas, and once post-pandemic on Broadway.
I'd go back to see him in NYC except he's performing there like four weeks after I get back from visiting there for the Oasis reunion. So I guess I'll miss him this tour unless he adds more dates.

Shooo-wee, I didn’t expect tix to be so expensive. Range is around $107-$575 without fees at the theater closest to me. And there aren’t many rows less than $200. I’ll pass this time.

Spry and springy as he is, David Byrne is also 73 this year. This time may very well be the time.
Our tickets ended up $109.50 apiece but then $137.58 with fees and taxes. We're center balcony just toward the front. This venue has a very decen overhang so we're a little closer than where we'd be on the floor instead, and all without the balcony claustrophobia.
David Byrne (and Talking Heads, for that matter) is an artist I have always loved but never thought to appreciate to the level of a concert until the last 10 years or so. I was out of town when he was here for American Utopia, so this is my "next time," the price seems decent for that.

Yeah, had I not seen him before, I might have considered it. But I've seen him a few times over the years, including the American Utopia tour (that was REALLY good). I first saw him on the Speaking in Tongues tour with the Talking Heads in '83.

Cool, I am going to get to a meet & greet with him in New York next week and get a signed copy of his new album at a listening party.

We missed the American Utopia tour because we couldn't get out of other commitments, and we have tickets for this upcoming tour. I like the new songs released so far, looking forward to the full album drop on Friday.

It wasn't super easy to listen to the album in-store because it wasn't that loudly playing and people were talking. But I liked what I heard. Most of it is pretty fun. They offered us a chance to buy a signed vinyl early, but I don't have a record player (plus his signature looks like a toddlers -- all block capital letters). You'll like the album, and especially the tour. It makes sense for this band to come back again since it was such a cool experience, but it's nice to have that confirmed.
Performance should be on Fallon tonight.

It is a wonderful, wonderful show. My buddy and I are lifelong fans and found it to be once in a lifetime as David and the ensemble were burning down the house! Jokes aside, it was awesome. As for our wives who are simply casual fans of David Byrne, one could ask if they were entertained, and she was.

Really, really loved the show yesterday. Sounds amazing in the Colosseum. Very imaginative show, combining the cool "marching band" of the last tour with interesting visuals this time.
He used some John Wilson footage for one song

He also showed off some pictures he took at Las Vegas' Neon Museum, a favorite place of mine. My daughter used to work there.
