Oh no! I grew up watching her on MASH and then reruns.

Also in the wonderful 70s movie Race With the Devil. Highly recommended, comes on a double feature Blu with Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. Or is it Crazy Mary Dirty Larry? I always mix that title up.

I just saw the news on the TVline site. RIP Loretta Swit, she was phenomenal in MASH. I am so glad she was in all 251 episodes. I have probably seen every single MASH episode a minimum of 3 times, and the vast majority of episodes at least 4-10+ times each. I lost count of how many times I have seen certain episodes.

Same here... especially most of the first 3 seasons. Watched them so many times.

Race With The Devil is one of my favorites. It’s been a few months since I watched it. Tonight’s the night.

My POS brother would call you an amateur. He's probably watched every single episode a minimum of 20 times. Many he's watched between 30-50 times.

I didn't know she was that old, but I probably should have (I thought she was closer to 80).

I absolutely LOVE M*A*S*H* - it's one of my all time favorite shows. I've seen each episode at least 10 times. Some closer to 20. Margaret had a great character arc. They developed that character so much, by the 7th season she had really been humanized and was one of the more likeable characters on the show. A huge part of that was due to Loretta Swit's own personality. She so owned that character.

Damn. She will be missed.

Not a surprise… watching a couple episodes now.

I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I've seen each episode. My dad was watching back in the day and it was something that really stuck with me at such a young age (born in 1974). I was already into Star Wars and Star Trek quite a bit, but a military medical sitcom should have been out of my wheelhouse as a young kid, but something about the characters compelled me and I have loved this show for the rest of my life. My wife and I alone have down at least two full watch throughs but with uncounted random episode viewings.

And Loretta Swit was certainly a major (hah!) factor in that love. She was probably my earliest TV crush, and it wasn't just being pretty, she was a skilled officer, that stood up for her self but was still human underneath the gruff exterior. The entire cast was outstanding, but as the lone (lead) woman, she had a lot to carry and she carried it damn well.

Race With the Devil scared the crap out of me, in the theatre. Interesting that it's R rated, considering a friend and I saw it, without parents, when we were about 9. Yeah, I may have to break out the Blu-ray, as well. Haven't watched it in ages, but I'm glad I bought it when I did, as it's quite pricey, now.

I take this back. I was looking through her filmography and realized I did see SOB as a teenager. I think I didn’t notice her in it because I was focused on a couple other things in that movie.

I saw Race With the Devil at the drive-in back in the 70s with my parents, what a crazy movie!

According to IMDB, it was R in Ontario and 13+ in Quebec.

I would have expected it to be 14A, which required adult accompaniment for those under 14. And again, we were 9...

Hot Lips was great. I've seen every episode countless times.

IIRC, she was supposed to be cast as Cagney or Lacey (don't remember which) when that show was starting up and either CBS or the producers of MASH blocked it (I guess she was locked into her MASH contract).

Cagney. She was in the pilot movie but then had to decline because of MASH producers.
