Americana (2025, D: Tost) S: Sweeney, Hauser, Halsey, Rex

A gallery of dynamic characters clash over the possession of a rare Native American artifact in this wildly entertaining modern-day western. After the artifact falls onto the black market, a shy waitress with big dreams (Sydney Sweeney) teams up with a lovelorn military veteran (Paul Walter Hauser) to gain possession of it, putting them in the crosshairs of a ruthless criminal (Eric Dane) working on behalf of a Western antiquities dealer (Simon Rex). Bloodshed ensues when others join the battle, including the leader of an indigenous group (Zahn McClarnon) and a desperate woman fleeing her mysterious past (Halsey).

Looks interesting. I usually enjoy these kinds of movies. While I can’t say I’m a huge fan, I appreciate Sidney Sweeney taking chances with some of her roles.

For all of the notoriety she gets for her body, Sweeney actually does come across as wanting to be a good actor who makes good movies. I see her having a much better trajectory than Megan Fox.

A soiled pair of underwear has a better career trajectory than Megan Fox.

I thought this was mostly watchable, but found it tonally all over the place.
Hauser's only lead performance this year was the Press Your Luck movie that most people don't know exists. I assume that's being called the fourth movie, but that came out in the spring. If we're counting spring movies then Pascal had one too (Freaky Tales) as well as a major TV show.

I might see this just so I can learn who Sydney Sweeney is and what she actually looks like and what all the fuss is about.

I saw a preview on Starz and first thought it was a new TV series.
World's Luckiest Man is a Walter Hauser movie that was overlooked and in interviews he seems like a cool guy you would want to hang out with.

I saw this last night and enjoyed it. It did a little unnecessary point of view and timeline shifting to try to be more clever I guess, but overall it was a fun movie and Sweeney did a good job with her role. Decent amount of violence kept the movies pace up

And not that it really matters, but this movie was made in 2022.

I didn't care for this very much. Halsey did pretty good and her character was the most interesting of the group but I didn't care for Hauser or Sweeney's characters and the movie itself was a slog for me.
