Last Breath (2025, D: Parkinson) -- S: Harrelson, Liu

A heart-pounding film that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crewmate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean’s surface. Based on a true story, LAST BREATH is an electrifying story about teamwork, resilience, and a race against time to do the impossible.

This is based on a 2019 documentary with the same name directed by the same director.

Just got back from seeing it. It was good, but mostly predictable. Story-wise it felt like a TV movie of the week based on a true story only with a bigger budget. There were some intense moments and I liked the chemistry with Harrelson, Liu and Cole. This will be most likely a one time watch.

I just got back from a matinee with my kids and we concur with exactly what you DJariya. I think all of those things. My youngest even said, feels like that could've been a 30-40 minute TV episode!

A few things working for it: excellent chemistry between the leads and good acting, amazing underwater photography, good sound and use of extreme louds and complete silences, and every dollar of its estimated $24 million budget is on screen.

Looks like it's at around $17 million in worldwide box office so far. I like movies like this, a smaller-scale, character-driven action movie with a good set piece or two. I hope it at least breaks even. Plus, I think Simu Liu's star continues to rise and we're always up for a Woody Harrelson movie. In fact, part of why we went is my wife is out of town and we joked that we have an annual tradition of seeing Woody Harrelson movies when she's out of town (Last Breath, Champions).

Overall, a decent 3.5 out of 5.

Appreciated the film purely on a technical level, as it's characters are sketched fairly thin.

I've heard that Director Alex Parkinson's co-directed documentary of the same name is a much stronger entry.
