Although largely flawed, I enjoyed a good chunk of Director Damian Mc Carthy's previous film Caveat (2020).
I'll probably check this one out over the weekend.

I have Caveat on my watchlist and was going to check it out either tonight or tomorrow so glad to see you at least enjoyed it.

I didn’t pay attention to the credits on this one until someone mentioned CAVEAT. I rather enjoyed that, albeit as a one-time library viewing. It was certainly a very promising debut that should heighten interest in this one.

I felt this movie was very underwhelming. It's a slow burn, tastefully done horror, but it's also all build-up with little payoff. I also found the whole set-up to be relentlessly predictable. All the way from the script to the performances, there's hardly any surprises here. Yes, there is some decent atmosphere and there are a couple of effectively creepy scenes, but overall this felt like an overlong episode of some TV horror anthology series.

I think Oddity is my favorite horror film this year, and it's been a pretty good year. I'm a jaded horror guy from waaaay back, and it takes a LOT to unnerve me. This movie did. It's got atmosphere to spare, and also some genuinely effective EARNED jump scares. It's not perfect: The climax goes one shot too far, in my opinion, and the resolution of the story is a bit too underlined in one scene, but this thing is genuinely CREEPY with a fantastic sense of structure and pace. I'm still a little freaked out over a couple of these jolts. Grade: A-

Saw Caveat on Fandango for free. It was Ok the creepy rabbit wasn't used enough. I didn't like how it sort of just ended, I mean I get it but.
Looking forward to this one now.

I watched Caveat and though it was decent - nothing special.
Same with Oddity. This director is pretty overhyped, but at least he makes somewhat decent films.
With that said, this has one of the best jump scares ever - VERY well done.

A fine watch, but not sure about the praise I have heard for it. Another good short story concept stretched and drawn out into a feature film.

Saw this the other night and will echo that I found it to be pretty damn good. Agree about the jump scare damn near knocked me over and my wife screamed out loud. It was a very good one.

I'm a big fan. Until the plot became clear towards the end it did a great job of building inexplicable dread. Jump scare was perfect. The set-up with the guy at the door was solid. 4/5

Having let this sit with me overnight … I think the low-key character development was masterful.
This was all done so organically that it didn’t need to beat the viewer over the head as so many other movies would have. Not to say there aren’t some tropey shortcuts, but after stepping back I see some great filmmaking. The efficiency of this movie is both a strength and a weakness.
