A Real Pain (2024, W/D: Eisenberg) S: Jesse Eisenberg, Kieran Culkin
Written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg. Mismatched cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the odd-couple's old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.
Cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Kieran Culkin, Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, Kurt Egyiawan, Liza Sadovy, Daniel Oreskes

Best film I saw during Sundance. It is a real step up from Eisenberg as a writer and director in comparison to his debut feature.
I would not be surprised to see Culkin get awards recognition for this.

Saw this on Saturday.
Even though I read through a few mixed reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed Kieran Culkin's performance in addition to a few of the film's core themes.
I didn't care much for Jesse Eisenberg's character, as it again feels as if he's reprising a role he's done a dozen times over.

This was A Real Good movie. Kieran Culkin plays it so natural as if he’s not even acting at all. Just plain real. Great debut for Eisenberg.

This is up on Hulu today. I watched it this morning and I really liked it.
Well-directed and engaging. At first, I thought Kieran Culkin came off as the male equivalent of the "manic pixie dream girl" trope*, but as the film went on, you see a lot of depth in his character. I would even say the final shot says a ton about how his mind works and why he is the way he is, that was awesome. I think he deserves all of the accolades he's getting and Eisenberg did a great job. The Chopin soundtrack is wonderful.
* Apparently, this is a term which has looped itself and has now become not a way to point out the need for stronger women characters that are well-rounded instead of a silly foil to press the male protagonist's story forward, but now it's been deemed a lazy way to put down women characters who are unique or interesting. Not sure what to do with all of that. But I'm not really in charge of it, so I'll just reiterate that Benji at first seemed quirky for the sake of quirky but then grew on me as a complex character.

I watched this last night. What a wonderful little movie. I agree with everyone here that Kieran Culkin was great. Eisenberg played a typical version of himself but he played it so well.
I would totally travel around Europe with Benji!

I watched this on Hulu. It was a good low-key, low-energy watch. I enjoyed the performances and the sentiment.
I identified so much with Jesse's character that, while appreciating Rory's acting, I just wanted to throttle Benji. I think if I had been in David's shoes, I would have tried to kill him or abandon him. I also resented Benji's behavior on behalf of the rest of the tour group.
