Bummer, but that's a good long life. He was great in so many 80's things. One of the hugely talented, amazing cast of Tootsie.
He had a TV show called Buffalo Bill, that I remember liking back in the day. Haven't seen it since it left the air.
Didn't even recognize him when I saw him in Boardwalk Empire.

One of my favorite roles he played was in Cloak and Dagger.
And most recently he played the late John Dutton Dutton Senior in Yellowstone.

Yeah, Cloak and Dagger was great. I was still pretty young and thought "Drexell's Class" was pretty fun in the early 90's.

Always one of my favourites and I particularly loved his tv work on Buffalo Bill and the almost forgotten one season wonder The Slap Maxwell Story, a series I desperately wish had been released on DVD during the heyday of archival tv releases because there’s almost zero chance of that happening now. Bits are on YouTube but I wish there was a good ol fashioned complete series set somewhere.

Sad news. I always liked him. He was one of the first actors I was able to identify in different movies as a little kid.
Wargames, Cloak and Dagger, and 9 to 5 are the three most memorable roles for me.
He also did a comedy called Short Time about a cop trying to die in the line of duty so he could get insurance money for his family. Kind of a morbid premise but I remember enjoying it as a kid.

I loved him as a kid from Wargame, Clock & Dagger, 9 to 5, Tootsie, Muppets Take Manhattan and watched The Slap Maxwell Story for him even though I really didn't get it because I think it flew over my head at the time.
One small role that no one has mentioned above that I loved was Dabney playing the boyfriend of Jane Fonda in On Golden Pond and how uncomfortable Henry Fonda's character makes him. It is hilarious. Very small part but his facial expressions in that are great.

He can be counted as one of several actors who was in a bunch of stuff who suddenly found success after growing a mustache. I'd include Burt Reynolds, Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot in that group.

Cloak & Dagger and Wargames are the standout movies for me - watched them countless times as a kid. Was good to see him in the small Yellowstone role as well. Didn't realize he was that hold.
