RIP Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers Band)

Dickey Betts. I saw him a number of times with the Allman Brothers Band and with his own band.

With his passing that leaves Jai Johanny Johanson as the last surviving original member of the Allman Brothers Band.

Re: RIP Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers Band)

The band was done as soon as Gregg died, but this is still a major blow.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's (who people compare to the Allman Brothers - but I consider TABB miles better) original lineup is all gone... and only one member left from the plane crash... and now the Allman Brothers original lineup has only 1 left.

This sort of thing really illustrates the passage of time and depresses me. It does that even if I wasn't a fan of the band.

For Blue Sky alone, he'll be sorely missed. RIP

One of the great unsung musicians in rock history. Love his solo material but the only man who could credibly trade guitar solos with the legendary Duane Allman. Love his guitar sound, just a beautiful sound.

I'll leave this here. Betts on lead guitar with Duane on the acoustic. One of the greatest songs ever recorded.
