Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie announced

For those who are unaware, this was teased at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in a post credit scene.

Well, that's the only way I'm going to see a Transformers movie again, so I'm in.

This still seems odd to me considering GI Joe movies aren't exactly lighting the world on fire (the toys are great though!)

Rise of the Beasts was pretty solid and I did love that tease at the end. I am down for this. Hopefully they get Steven Caple Jr. back to direct, but this time bring in ILM as the main VFX house (Moving Picture Company and what I assume was the second string crew of Wētā FX didn't quite cut it).

I'm in - my two favorite childhood properties combined. I was stoked for the after-credits in Rise of the Beasts.

See, I love GI Joe. I love Transformers. A crossover movie seems great to me if they honored both franchises. I just don't see how they can do that when they have to cram introductions and characters into one movie, though. It's not like Rise of the Beasts didn't have a beyond complicated and utterly baffling plot that you kind of shrug your shoulders to. That had like a few humans and a handful of robots and I couldn't tell you anything about the vast majority of them.

I've envious of all you guys who were big fans of both series as kids and get to see them together. Must be an awesome feeling. My equivalent would be something like He-Man/Dukes of Hazzard or MacGyver/Quantum Leap. Both of which would make far less sense, I grant you.

I think movies spend way too much time introducing things. Just go - people will figure it out. Especially fans of the property.

If the Transformers feature Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee and Starscream and the Joes have Duke, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow, we're good to go.

It will be fun to see them on the big screen, but they already had a run of comics with them together.

And yeah, I agree there is no need for introductions. Just go straight to the plot.

If it makes you feel better, I always wanted a 2-part The Golden Girls/The A-Team crossover (Part I: "The Golden Team" and Part II: "The A-Girls").

The best part is you just know those two groups would get along great!

Should have been doing this since day 1. Duhamel's team would have been a perfect Joe introduction.

Remember when the novelization revealed William Lennox' nickname was "Wild Bill", leading to speculation he was meant to be the live action version of the G.I. Joe character? They should have leaned into that.

Yeah they hinted at in TF:Rise of the Beasts at the end. The only good G I Joe film was the 1st one IMHO. Either way, I'll watch this.

Sounds like you two should team up to write the script for Ready Player Two.

I actually much preferred the second film, mostly because they got Snake Eyes’s look more in line with what I wanted. The extended cut of the movie is also much better.

Re: Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie announced

This concept has been in movie development hell for years and years. I first heard about it...before the first Bay Transformers movie came out. This would have been a much hotter property if they had done it about a decade ago after the second or third Transformers sequel.

I am happy I bought last year gem mint copies of the 1987 G.I. Joe and the Transformers comic book mini-series. That's going to become a hot item...

I never saw the 80s one, but I really liked Resolute and Retaliation

I always felt Rise Of Cobra was the better movie, whereas Retaliation had the better character designs. However, that opinion changed recently when Prime briefly had the extended cut up for free. What boneheaded decisions to not only release the disjointed theatrical cut (which was made for the sake of a shorter/cheaper 3D conversion) but to then make the extended cut a Best Buy exclusive.

Resolute is great, but The Movie has the single best opening sequence.

That's a bit presumptuous. Lets wait and see until the movie comes out before we're jealous of anything. Does anyone remember being excited for an Aliens and Predator crossover?

Honestly, AVP wasn't that bad. It's AVP:R that was atrocious.
