The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV+) - S: Noel Fielding - Premieres 3/1/2024

In “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” Dick Turpin (Noel Fielding) sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville). In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying to escape the clutches of the thief-taker.
Sounds like a version of Our Flag Means Death...

Anybody else watching this? Its insanely goofy humour is just my cup of tea, and I've been having a blast so far.

I am so sad this was only six episodes, but all of them were great. I really hope this gets renewed for a second season.

‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin’ Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+

The adventure comedy stars British funnyman Noel Fielding in new tales about an 18th century band of highway outlaws.
July 3, 2024 8:11am

Apple TV+ has given the green light for a second season of the adventure comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, starring Noel Fielding.

The British series, which debuted worldwide on March 1, has comic and actor Fielding playing 18th century highwayman Dick Turpin alongside his merry band of outlaws. “Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity,” Apple TV+ said of the comedy headed to another cycle.

There’s no word on casting or a premiere date for the second season of the British comedy created by Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis and Stuart Lane. The first season ensemble cast included Duayne Boachie, Ellie White, Marc Wootton, Asim Chaudry, Mark Heap and Hugh Bonneville as a ruthless and corrupt thief-taker.

The first season finale streamed on March 29, 2024 and complemented the cliff hanger fifth episode entitled Tommy Silversides.

The title of the British comedy makes clear the series diverges, with silly implications, from the historical character of Dick Turpin.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin is produced for Apple TV+ by Big Talk Studios, which is part of ITV Studios, and is written by Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain, with Fielding.

The series is executive produced by Kenton Allen, Fielding, Victoria Grew, Anthony Wilcox and Ben Palmer, who will direct the second season. Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain are co-executive producers.

Looks like the show is cancelled because the star of the show just stopped showing up to work: https://deadline.com/2025/01/the-com...le-1236258328/

That sucks. Was looking forward to a 2nd season. Wonder why Noel would do that?

too much time spent on bad jokes and bad acting for the Britsh Baking show? Loved this show but BBS is somewhat ruined by his cohost and him playing into her lame antics

You don't like the new co-host? We think she's lightyears better than the bald guy that was there prior.

It's one thing to pull a Joaquin Phoenix and pull out 5 days before they shoot, but in the middle of production? As one of the exec producers, I hope he pays the crew for the amount of time they were scheduled to be hired for plus locations and stage rentals. Can't imagine how much money this cost Apple and/or Big Talk if they were floating the production costs. Not sure if production insurance would pay the claim on this.

Just saw a new episode was released on Apple. Calling it S1E7, so maybe this was Season 2 and they just finished what they had and attached it to the first season. Curious if this is the only one we will get.

It is. Although they had reportedly shot 75% of season 2, that Halloween special was the only thing that was complete enough to release. It's a damn shame this show got cancelled. I was really looking forward to a second season.

IDK if it was the fact I had not seen the show in ages or that I knew it was a one-off show and not the start of a full-on season, but the episode barely held my interest. sad to read the star was such a diva that he ruined the show's production.
