Lawmen: Bass Reeves (Paramount+) EP: Sheridan, S: Oyelowo - premieres 11/5/23

Lawmen: Bass Reeves comes from Executive Producer Taylor Sheridan and stars award-winning actor David Oyelowo. The series brings the story of the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life. Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the Post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.

Stream Lawmen: Bass Reeves when it premieres this Fall, exclusively on Paramount+.
Future iterations will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.

Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland and Dennis Quaid also star. Cast also includes Shea Whigham and Garrett Hedlund as guest stars, and, in recurring roles, Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Grantham Coleman, Tosin Morohunfola, Dale Dickey, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Margot Bingham Mo Brings Plenty, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley and Bill Dawes.

Sheridan and Oyelowo executive produce along with Feehan. The eight-episode season is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon exclusively for Paramount+.

Originally this was supposed to be titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. I'm not sure if it is still considered a Yellowstone offshoot if they plan to turn it into an anthology.

I'll watch this... but man, I wish Sheridan would focus a bit and wrap other stuff up.

Didn’t expect the brutality and gore. Well done first ep. I’m in.

The beginning of the first episode was a LOT. Thankfully the second episode was less brutal.

Really loved what I saw in the 2 eps. Excellent production design. Really liking these characters and that’s it’s a Western makes it all the better.

Re: Lawmen: Bass Reeves (Paramount+) EP: Sheridan, S: Oyelowo - premieres 11/5/23

I got caught up with the 1st 3 episodes. Oyelowo is really good as Reeves. The quality is just as good as 1883. Reeves escape from his master and how he got his job as a Deputy U.S. Marshall were pretty compelling.

Sheridan doesn't appear to be a hands on producer of this show. There is a different showrunner and an actual writing staff here. Sheridan was probably too busy with Lioness to be directly involved with this.

Not the kind of show that has a lot to talk about, but it's good so far.

Yes, it's a really good show and the Sheridan shows always nail the casting. The mixture of name/veteran actors and newcomers always works for me and having name actors just to appear in one episode is a nice touch to refine the shows.

I think the show has too many time jumps. Every episode you have to adjust to the new status quo.

This show got real boring real fast. Impressive when considering the real life events.
This could have been any western, there's really not much pertaining to the actual Bass Reeves.

This was on my backlog and I knocked it out over the last week. I enjoyed it, fits right in with the 1882 Universe. Didn't know before what a strong cast this has (besides Oyelowo, Dennis Quaid, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland. Always nice to see familiar faces.
