Wonder if it lost some of its intrigue and mystery with the Family Stallone and getting a look at his personal life in that series.

I guess the rivalry between Arnold and Sly is still alive. Arnold gets a documentary, Stallone gets a documentary.

I liked it enough but there wasn't really that much new stuff in there. His father was a dick though. I didn't like that they skipped over his career low between Cop Land and Rocky Balboa.

I enjoyed this because I have always loved Stallone. I feel like the Arnold doc was SO much better. Like Arnold, Sly has major daddy issues (many of us do lol) and it's pretty much what drove him. The one thing that stands out to me is how often Sly goes to the well of "I didn't like how the movie was written... so I re-wrote it". I'm not so sure I buy that; but, if he did, he grabbed onto that 80's & 90's appeal of "the good guy always wins". While it worked for him, it's very safe and doesn't necessarily work in today's modern films.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Other than taking shots at his father (even on his death bed!), there's nothing much here introspective. No comments about Sage's death (just a text indication that he died young). No mention of his other son, Seargeoh. His daughters and wife are shown in clips, but he barely talks about them. If you know NOTHING about Sly, this is worth seeing, but if you have even an average knowledge of his background, there's nothing revealing here.

I liked it. It was fine, but nothing particularly engrossing. When I saw Thom Zimny as the director I wasn't expecting much. After sitting through a bunch of the work he's done with Springsteen, it is mostly just surface level stuff.

It was good, but not nearly as good as the Arnold documentary. They could have gone more into challenging periods of his life. There was a period where Sly made some truly terrible movies, mostly straight to video, that they never touched. But, I guess for this film, Sly didn’t want to acknowledge them. Also, his wife Jennifer nearly divorced him a year ago, and Sly just casually touched that saying he realized family became more important. And they never touched on his past relationships, especially to Bridgette Nielsen. That was a train wreck. At least Arnold came clean in his film about the bad things he did and regretted. I would have liked to have heard from Jennifer and his daughters.

I think the movie would have been better, if Quentin Tarantino had been the only interview partner. Sly's career told out of the perspective of a great filmmaker and even bigger film lover. Stallone's career is just remarkable. Ben Affleck's and Matt Damon's rise to fame with Good Will Hunting is also a great story, but in my opinion both of them could have gotten their big break later. Stallone had this one shot with Rocky and like the movie it is just a fantastic underdog story. Stallone isn't good looking, he has a speech impediment and has an actor he his good in certain parts, but he isn't a great actor like Robert DeNiro.

It pains me to say this because I've been a huge Sly fan but he just came across as an egotistical asshole. I'm pretty sure that's why he didn't go into anything with any depth or break down his personal failures. Arnold did it right and I think Sly only did this to keep up with Arnold -- which is what an egotist would do.

It was ok but it could have been a lot more though did not know about his struggles with his dad.
