The Crowded Room (Apple TV+) S: Tom Holland, Amanda Seyfried - premieres 6/9/23
"The Crowded Room,” the gripping, upcoming limited series starring and executive produced by Tom Holland, and created by Academy Award-winning writer and executive producer Akiva Goldsman.
The highly anticipated 10-episode series will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on Friday, June 9, 2023, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through July 28, 2023.
“The Crowded Room” follows Danny Sullivan (Holland), a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. A captivating thriller told through a series of interviews with curious interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), Danny’s life story unfolds, revealing elements of the mysterious past that shaped him, and the twists and turns that will lead him to a life-altering revelation.
Featuring an ensemble cast led by Holland, the series also stars Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase and Lior Raz along with guest stars Jason Isaacs, Christopher Abbott, Thomas Sadoski and Zachary Golinger.
“The Crowded Room” is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency. Goldsman serves as executive producer through his Weed Road Productions banner. The series is also executive produced by Holland; Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions; and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer. Kornél Mundruczó directed several episodes, including the pilot, and executive produces. Suzanne Heathcote also serves as executive producer.

Apparently the filming of this brought Holland to the point where he's taking a year off from acting.

I watched the first two episodes, and it is riveting so far. Holland is fantastic here. I'm expecting some pretty creepy scenes given his reaction to making this (taking a year off form acting).

Thats wild that critics on RT score this 26%, but audience score was 92%. Quite drastic. Ill give it a go for Holland.

It's weird the way the press is going on about this break. The show stopped filming last year. He is well into the break. He'll start filming the Fred Astaire biopic early next year.

I watched the episodes available. I don't understand why this story (based on a real person) is being told this way. It is very obvious what is going on and it seems like they are going out of their way make it not obvious.

Yeah, I had it figured out very early on. My wife confirmed my theory when she googled the real-life story which is the basis for the book on which this show is based.

I’ve caught up with the available episodes and am interested enough to keep watching. Nothing amazing, but the cast is good, even if Emmy Rossum is now playing MILFs.

Anyone keeping up with this? We watched the penultimate episode last night, the finale comes out Friday. I really like this, Holland has been great.

Finished this off last night.
As others mentioned it was a bit of a chore, at least 2 episodes too long. Acting was mostly fine, just didn't really care about any of the characters or the story. Most Apple TV+ shows have been great, but this was a slog to get through
