You Hurt My Feelings (2023, W/D: Holofcener) S: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tobias Menzies
New York novelist Beth has been working for years on the follow-up to her somewhat successful memoir, sharing countless drafts with her supportive husband Don. Beth's world unravels when she overhears Don admit to her brother-in-law, Mark, that actually, he doesn’t like the new book. She vents to her sister Sara that decades of a loving, committed marriage pale in comparison to this immense betrayal. Meanwhile, therapist Don faces his own professional problems as he finds himself unable to care about or even recall his unhappy patients' issues anymore… and they’ve begun to notice.

I have also enjoyed those Holofcener films that I have seen, most especially the last one she did with Dreyfus, Enough Said.

Saw this the other day and really enjoyed it. I love a movie that can explore a situation with their characters instead of having to feel the need for a plot that leads to a big ending with "stakes". The dialogue is fantastic, with so many great lines, delivered perfectly by even the small characters (My favorite is, "Would you just shut up, and keep talking!").
I thought the mother was played by Elaine May, but turns out it's actually Elaine May's daughter.
I really admire Julie Louis-Dreyfus. Even though she's giving a comedic performance, she creates a character totally distinct from Elaine on Seinfeld, or Selena on Veep. She's fantastic.
One minor detail in the background gave me a chuckle; during one of the downtown scenes, even though across the street is out of focus, you can see a pedestrian stop walking when he notices there's a movie being filmed, and pulls out his camera to take a video. I hope that guy sees this movie and knows he made the final cut.

This was not bad.
It started a little slow but picked it when she spied on her husband buying socks.
Amber Tamblyn wow looks like a soccer mom and really aged.
